Chair.
Can't seem to see just what you've got,
far too damned fixated on all that's not.
You should take some time to consider sacrifice;
take the time to weigh your current fortune
against the present opportunity cost.

Is it really worth it to throw all this away?

Is it that you don't want what you have or that
you just want what you don't have free
to grasp and take away?

What is it?
I get it, I know.
Know that I understand.

Perhaps you need time living without
to see the value in all you've had, like
the man who doesn't see the value of life
until he's looking down the barrel
mere seconds before the hammer clicks.

We tend to think freedom means lack of attachments.
That walking on your own means walking alone.
Seems to make sense at the beginning of the road, but
you tend to see the contradictions as you tread along.

Problems will never be eliminated, so we have to deal.
Surviving is a fist fight, you've got to roll with the punches.
It's about constant re-adaptation, about self-knowledge and control.
It's about knowing when to hold on and when to let go.

What time is it?
You've got to know by now
that there's a time for everything.

You've got to know by now that life is struggle,
but that the fight doesn't nessesitate suffering.
Patience and persistence are both virtues, I'd say,
and a fate worse than death awaits the weak who throw
up their hands just to walk away.

It's such an easy road, you think, that off-ramp:
until you realize you've driven right down the barrel
and then, hearing the hammer click,
you're blinded by the flash before your eyes
of all that could've been again
and again and again...

The flow felt a little stegnotic.
But I like the overall premise of the piece, and the way you divulge suffering.

:).
