Hi, my name is -----, I'm 15 years old and I'm struggling with OCD. my anxiety in general has gotten to the point where its effecting my social life. I have been trying to type this message for the past 5 hours, but I have been putting it off because of my OCD.
I'm gonna post by editing this a little at a time, because I feel as though it is never going to come out all at once.
I've been counting to the number 10 since I was 9 years old. "Good numbers" for me are multiples of 5, preferably 10.
I think I'll finish this post tomorrow, or after I sleep. I haven't slept in a long time now because I have been taking large ammounts of Ritalin, Adderall, and Focalin and so I'm rather tweaked out right now. Very OCD. Do you get more OCD when on stimulants?

Hi Cameron :) Again, welcome <3
I replied in the Introduction thread but I'll reply more here.

Yes some people definitely get more OCD when they're on stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall etc. Stimulants can increase anxiety in general so it kinda makes sense that your symptoms of OCD can increase when you're tweaked, because OCD is related to anxiety.

Are you taking Ritalin for recreational purposes or because you're prescribed it (or you are prescribed it, but you're using it recreationally, like I did when I was your age ;))

Either way, if you recognise that your OCD is worse when you're high, maybe you should try and cut down your dosages to see if that helps.

If this has been going on since you were 10, it's probably not going to go away on its own/just by reducing your stimulant use. Have you ever had any therapy for your OCD or depression? If not, do you think you might be ready to see someone about it?

The main thing that you need to know and remember is that OCD is very treatable, and you don't have to be like this forever. I know it feels like you're trapped in hell right now, but things can improve, and they will. But you need some help man.

What do you think? <3

Same here man!

I love 5 and 10 since they're the ones that always end with five or zero, and they have a sort of even pattern... haha.

I'm taking stims too, and sometimes, I tell myself to stop though.

I'm taking it for recreational purposes. That night was horrible, I literally went 2 days without sleep. Now that I'm not tweaking, my OCD isn't really that bad, but I still want to do something about it. I've tried therapy, but it doesn't help. I don't know what to say or do, and it makes it really awkward. I was all by myself late at night on a really high dosage, so that will probably (and hopefully) never happen again.
My mom can't afford to find me a doctor to prescribe anything, or therapists etc.. Is there anything that I can do?

i have exactly what you describe, just in different forms, depression mostly, anxiety quite a bit and some OCD, opiates are what ive found that make things go away but i assume you dont want this sort of solution to your problem.

please contact a therapist or someone that can help you, ive battled with these mother fuckers for a few years now and i wish i asked someone for help instead of pouring another drink and swallowing more pills.

good luck mate

Alright, yeh when I get strung-out and all tweaky I get freaked out (like shit scared) by mice that aren't always there... just a rustle..

Try and occupy yourself with a basic task like creative writing about anything the more random the better (e.g. a carpet or a lamp) and write a story about it just describe it. If it were a carpet; how many people can stand on it at the same time (both feet on) 5? or maybe 10 or 15?

If you're up all night and have a view from your window, see what you can see outside and watch how it seems different as dawn breaks and the light changes (I'd recommend trees or something that moves a little)..

Hope that helped in anyway...

Thanks for the suggestion, but will trying to fight the urge to give into OCD help me in the long run?

Maybe, but it would have to be a really, reallly, long run. I feel as though its just brain chemistry that needs to work itself out of a "rut." Try to surround your self and your consciousness with positive thoughts, things and people, and immediately stop taking atleast two of those three stimulants you listed (recreationally, that is). Then tell us how you feel in two weeks.

don't try to fight it..

instead try to reason with it...

try to gently gain your very own control over the obsessive compulsions..

You're at such an age that burying things under the rug isn't the solution.

For example.. I've said when I'm strung out mice freak me. well I'm still strung out on the same string...

but I havnt seen one since the morning and now I'm wearing sunglasses indoors, so as far as I am currently concerned there aren't any (if there even were in the first place).. and if there aren't any, then they deserve none of your attention... make any sense?
