But heroin and OC are not the same shit at all... They are made from two completely different alkaloids. Heroin (diamorpine) is made from morphine, while Oxycodone is made from thebaine (as is hydrocodone). --- So any talk you may hear about OC being 'synthetic heroin' is complete ignorant bullshit. They are two different chemicals, period.
it doesn't really matter what the opium alkaloid that starts the synthesis is, but oxycodone and diamorphine (or diacetylmorphine, w/e u wanna call it) defenitely are two different drugs. (and dammit, its spelled HEROIN, not HERION or HEROINE lol). H is much more similar to morphine and codeine, and feels more like a natural opiate. I know its semi-synthetic and therefore an opioid, but its very much like morphine except it penetrates the brain quicker, causing a more euphoric rush. Oxy, in my book, is very similar to other opioid pharms, such as hydrocodone, in effect. In fact, I find that oxy and hydro feel almost identical as equiv. doses (oxy seems to be 1.5x more potent), and so do most pharms. Heroin on the other hand, feels very different for some reason.
The big difference is effect comes from MoA, as oxy is usually taken orally (or nasally, although the bio is higher orally), whereas heroin is usually IV'ed (i believe if u were to take it orally, it would be the same as oral morph, correct me if im wrong).
Still these are both drugs that affect the brain and body in the same way, even though they feel somewhat different. its wrong to think that one is "the lesser evil" because they both cause the same kind of addiction, and have similar addiction potential (IMO, heroin is somewhat more addictive because its usually IV'ed but thats besides the point). I think that ALL opiates should be considered on the same level, and i do hate when oxy is refered to as "heroin in a pill" or sumthing similar. What annoys me the most tho, is people that are okay with taking 8 percocets (and think nothing of it), but say that they wont touch oxycontin, cuz its "heroin in a pill". that is true ignorance, because percocet and oxycontin are both oxycodone.
In general, i think all opiates/opioids should be thought of on the same level, with regard to dose equivalence. As opposed to percs/vics are okay, but oc's, mscontin and heroin is worse.
