Obama Ignores Marijuana Question During Online Interview

maybe he will inspire some of the young kids in the ghetto who think because they are black ,

It would inspire me.

A man who sixty years ago would have been declared:

"a negro unfit for equivalency in education and all of society with the white man,"

now has all of these white prick politicians by the balls.

I'm sick of all of these GOP evangelical loony fucks; where all of society's ills are one step away from being linked to drugs and immigrants (and gays).

/agrees with huaca, in the end, Obama still is a politician. although better then anybody the GOP was throwing at the 2008 Presidential Election....

The fact of the matter is though, a lot of people voted for him because he seemed so cool with the whole cannabis thing (needs to not be called "marijuana" anymore, that term itself implies racism against the Mexican immigrants who used it).

I for one voted for him because of his (so-called) liberal views on drugs, but then again I'm pretty much a liberal's liberal.

I have a feeling that most people on this forum are more liberal/libertarian.

I think it's funny that people are actually bitching about President Obama not answering a question about marijuana when he is actually answering actual citizen's questions instead of planted reporter's questions like Bush.

Does anyone really think that if John McCain was president that our biggest complaint would be that he's not answering questions of marijuana reform. Does anyone think that John McCain would call off raids on medical marijuana patients?

California recently agreed to a national vote on the legalization and taxation of marijuana. We'll see Obama's tune after this vote, which is polling at passing percentages, but all this could change, and make for a landslide loss :-/.

I don't really see why anyone expects Obama to confront this issue. The guy, just like Bush, is a puppet for the ruling elite. He's just a slicker, "cooler", more articulate version of Dubya.

Guy slammed Bush and the Republican Congress' spending habits. Then proceeded to bail out all his Wall Street buddies that fucked the system with derivatives. Then proceeded to put those same people in his administration to run things.

Slammed Bush over the war in Iraq. Has taken forever to start getting troops out of Iraq and has actually INCREASED troop levels in Afghanistan and other areas.

Dude actually bowed to a bunch of Saudis after talking shit about Dubya's connections to the kings over there.

Said he was going to crack down on Gitmo and get all those assholes who ran the torture shit there. Instead, just had those prisoners shipped off to other prisons around the world to be held and tortured.

Said he wasn't going to use signing statements to get around certain laws like Dubya. Has proceeded to use signing statements already as a loop-hole himself.

Said he wasn't going to put lobbyists in his administration. Already has some major lobbyists taking up high ranking positions.

The list goes on.

American government is a joke. It's nothing but corrupt assholes on both sides. They play the public off against each other with the whole "Republican-Democrat", "white-black", "liberal-conservative" nonsense and proceed to rape the American public the entire time.

Alex Jones can be a bit nutty at times, but I suggest everyone go to YouTube and watch "Fall of the Republic." It makes some really interesting points about how much of a puppet Obama is (just like Bush) and how the American people are being sold out by both parties in government.

The only fucking politician that gives me any real hope is Ron Paul.

What i fail to understand is how are you going to illegalize one plant (weed) and then have another plant (tobacco) perfectly legal? And everyone knows that cigarrettes cause more illness than weed ever will. Infact, i dont think there beens one SERIOUS medical issue tied to use of weed.

The reason its still illegal at the federal level is because ITS A MONEY MAKER. The states make ALOT of money for arresting cannabis users. ALOT.

Now the only question remains is, can the government make more money LEGALIZING AND REGULATING THE DISTRIBUTION ITSELF, while simultaneously lowering jail population counts and the ruining of peoples ordinary everyday lives, OR, can they make more money by keeping it illegal?

I would say, look at how much revenue alcohol and tobacco bring in. BILLIONS annually. And both of those drugs are heavily associated with health problems.

The only kind of minimal PHYSICAL health problem that i know of personally from weed use is memory deficit and small damage to your lungs due to inhaling foreign smoke. All of that is reversed when you stop smoking.

When i was running 4-5 miles in 1 session 3-4 times a week, i was smoking weed almost everyday. Real potent skunky dro. It didn't slow me down at all. Now i havn't touched a cig in my life but i would bet alot of money that if i was a regular smoker that my running ability would be extremely hindered.

^^ Very perceptive post. There are a few people who are awake and who can see past the popular propaganda and matrix of lies.

Well, marijuana becoming legalized would negatively affect many other big money making markets. So, you can't just look at how much money the government would take in from it's sale and regulation.

You have to look at how much money it would steal from cigs and alcohol (a lot). Plus, I think MJ would have a serious effect on the medical industry. More people smoke maryjane. They drink less, smoke less cigs, and in turn lead healthier lives. That means less people in the hospital, etc. People that have had tons of prescription pills pushed on them for every little thing turn to the wonder weed instead. That hurts the pharmaceutical companies and the doctors that push their pills (which are more harmful than weed).

It's completely a money issue. And with the big time corporate lobbyists controlling the politicians....

Come on, how many more people are going to smoke weed just because it's legalized? Not that many, they already did this in Amsterdam and the amount of people who smoked didn't climb that much. I think most of the people who would be smoking it already are, regardless of the legal status.

My point is that less people aren't going to drink and smoke (cigarettes) if weed is legalized (or at least not THAT much), everyone who likes to drink will continue drinking and the smokers will continue smoking. People will continue to be drawn to alcohol even if there is another (safer) intoxicant they could be using.

I'm not disputing that, but it's a legitimate concern for big business. These guys control the market on vices. Budweiser had how many Super Bowl commercials the other night? 10? These guys don't losing ANY market share or seeing their profits dip at all.

Now imagine that they have to compete with marijuana which starts becoming sold in gas stations, pharmacies, etc. (assuming full legalization).

You and I can't truly comprehend how these people think. To us, legalizing marijuana doesn't seem like a problem or that it would cause these ultra rich guys much harm. But when you have complete power and dominance you don't want to give it up.

It's like Big Brother in 1984. They don't just want to control the populace. They want to control everything, including their minds. They don't just lock the guy up and kill him. They lock him up and work on him until he actually believes in The Party and then years later they get rid of him.

And also, I don't believe in this idea that "everyone who wants to do marijuana already does marijuana." Yeah, I don't see an explosion of pot users if it gets legalized either. Still, a bunch of people don't bother with pot because it isn't extremely accessible (as in going down to the store and buying it accessible) and it does carry risk because of current laws. The suit on Wall Street doesn't toke because he doesn't want to have his image tarnished if his bosses find out. Joe Blow at the widget factory doesn't smoke because he doesn't want to get randomly piss tested and lose his job. And believe it or not, good weed isn't magically available on every corner if you don't live in a major population center. I live in a decent sized city and you can't find shit but shake and nasty ass gutter weed. Better pot is available, but not 24/7 and you have to jump through hoops (and pay an obscene amount) to get it.

If MJ gets legalized then it's highly accessible and people can blow their money on it easily. That means they spend less money on other shit. Like alcohol. Would it absolutely kill the beer industry? Of course not. Would it have a noticeable affect? Yes. And for the corporate bigwigs who run things in this country that's just unacceptable.

And of course, it's also a control issue. If the government legalizes weed then they can't lock people up, stomp all over their rights and freedoms, etc. and so on.
