Tēnā koutou katoa, greetings everyone,

I just wanted to share a new Aotearoa/New Zealand study regarding drug use motivations. The study is being undertaken by a research team at the University of Otago, led by Rose Crossin from the Department of Population Health (Christchurch).

The project aims to find out what people who use drugs (including legal drugs like alcohol and nicotine) in Aotearoa/New Zealand think about what generally motivates people to use drugs and compare how different groups of people rate the importance of different motivations. In addition, we hope that this project allows for the development a comprehensive inventory of the diverse motivations for drug use. This online survey is anonymous and should not take more than 15-20mins to complete. The full information sheet can be seen on the front page of the survey.

To participate, we require that you; currently live in NZ (and have done so for 1 year or more), are aged 18+ years old, speak fluent English, have drug experience (including alcohol, tobacco, extramedical use of medications) in the past-12 months.

The survey is hosted by REDCap and data is securely stored on their servers. The study was approved by the University of Otago Human Ethics Committee (Ref: 23/113).

Ngā mihi ki a koutou, many thanks to you all,
