nystagmous (eye wiggles) from Benadryl

Today I found myself in the ER after accidentally eating something with peanuts. I'm not terribly allergic like some people but i still broke out in hives pretty bad. Any way, My girlfriend thought I should go down to the hospital and see what they could do.

They ended up giving my a steroid, something for my stomach, and a fuck ton of Benadryl(IV). I got the weirdest sensation in the back of my throat and started tripping a little. My vision started getting blurry and then my eyes started knocking around like crazy!

The weirdest thing is i never get eye wiggles from MDMA. This was the first time i have ever felt it and i gotta say it was pretty bizarre.

The answer to that is kind of complicated.

I rolled like 2 weeks ago, but it was a very mild dose, just enough to feel. Before that i hadn't rolled in about 6 months.

Somewhat bizarre effect from a therapeutic dose of benadryl. I have never had any "eye wiggles" from taking benadryl, and I take it quite frequently for sleep. Sounds like you might be very sensitive to it or are just having some strange side effects.

Edit: On second thought, what did they give you for your stomach? If they gave you promethazine (Phenergan), it could have interacted with the benadryl and potentiated each other, seeing as they are both anti-histamines. But it would usually have to be in high doses, which could have been the case if you had a severe allergic reaction and needed high doses of both. Even doses of 100mg can be somewhat trippy for some people, and having it IV'ed can make the effects more pronounced and intense.
