Now in this thing called life...

We begin.

However, we never really ended at all.

So where does the beginning happen?

Haven't we been here all along? Hasn't life existed for all that is called time? And won't it be that way until time ceases to exist?

Can that even happen?

Well, if you believe in the spirit continuing to live, then the "beginning" or rebirth happens when we take on a new body, yeah?

Its not a full on beginning but it is one of sorts :)

Life, as we know it, has existed for approximately 1-2 billion years. Unless we can step up our game A LOT, it will end in around another 500 million or so when the sun enters its next phase of life.

Naturally, that doesn't include the very likely existence of extrasolar life. Even then, there's a ballpark early limit to when that started as well, as it would need a star and planets-- unless of course it was something completely foreign to life as we know it, in which case it would probably just need stars as an energy source. So, maybe 300 million-1 billion years after the inflationary phase ended?

Man, my cosmology's rusty. :)

Oh! I didn't even realize that comments on a blog don't give you updates.

ocean, thanks for the words of a new beginning. however, we have to argue the possibilities of a new beginning starting in the mind, instead of only just the body. The mind can have a rebirth as well.

Dave:
4.5 billion, as long as my memory's not fading away.
Also, we can't really tell the future, so whatever happens to the sun in 500 million years may not be what we are predicting. Looks like your prediction of rebirth will come far after all of our existances here. :P

fwiw... you can set your Blog to send emails when someone comments on your Blog. It will only send one email notification per entry (unless you log into BL again to reset its counter type thingy)

Check it out under Blog Control Panel
