The faerie mountains
Once upon a given time, I sat beside the sea.
I thought long and hard til tired and true, of who and what I'd be.
The sun went down, the moon came up, as I pondered my small soul, and then the stars grew one by one, to the place where sunlight stole.

Once upon a given time, I sat beside the river.
I thought long and hard til tired and true, about being a taker or a giver.
The sun went down, the moon came up, as I said prayers for the earth, and then the stars grew one by one, singing songs of pride and worth.

Once upon a given time, I sat on a mountaintop.
I thought long and hard til tired and true, of how to make the madness stop.
The sun went down, the moon came up, as I cried for what went wrong, and then the stars grew one by one, their journey light years long.

Once upon a given time, I sat beside the plains.
I thought long and hard til tired and true, of how to soothe my pains.
The sun went down, the moon came up, as I breathed in fields of flowers, and then the stars grew one by one, screaming of their powers.

Once upon a given time, I sat beside the city.
I thought long and hard til tired and true, of how it really is a pity.
The sun went down, the moon came up, as I watched the people move, and then the stars grew one by one, with nothing left to prove.

Holy shit. That was AMAZING. Seriously. I love it when poetry has stanzas and/or lines that start with the same words, but end differently. Forgot the name for it. But this is one of the better ones I've read in a long time. Props.

I like the repeating lines and references to great power. It feels native american in nature.
