So I've read some news articles that states are going to be restricting travel to prevent women from getting abortions in a state that it's legal! OMG ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!!! So now all of a sudden the USA is a fucking dictatorship? Piss on the damn judges that have started a ban on the rights most Americans have enjoyed. Next they will ban gay marriage, birth control, and hell why don't they install cameras in all of our houses to boot? Normally I don't bother with social media and Facebook, but this one time I did speak out. I only have people that I know IRL for the most part on my FB contacts and only have 57 friends. I'm not sure when the majority of them became right wing fanatics, but I did say that unless we all pull together and do something about this (which they won't) then little by little the Supreme Court will be taking away more and more of our rights. I stated that I don't care how you feel about abortion, slowly becoming a dictatorship is NOT ok! I knew that asshole Trump was trouble right from the start. He is bad news and sure enough because of him, we've had nonstop violence here. He is the reason the Supreme Court was able to do what it did by making sure there was an imbalance of power. So I will not be quiet about this. I will go down fighting, for all of the good it will do. I don't understand why so many people are okay with this.

Hi - think this is the first time I've ever commented on a blog, but, yeah, god damn, what can I say. Shit is fucked. Could not have happened at a worse time either, on the one hand the US is an inconveniently important bastion of Western culture (just bear with me on that hazy definition) and self-proclaimed defender of Western democratic values - but at the same time, internally, it's just a fucking embarrassment. I don't live there, fortunately, although I hate that I have to say "fortunately" because I really fucking wish it was the nation it wants to be and I really hope it can overcome the ideological cancers that are currently destroying it from within... but yeah, I mean, genuinely I wish you all luck, for whatever it's worth. If I was religious I'd say I'll pray for you all but given the role that religious extremism has played in fuelling all this fucking insanity that seems not only desperate but just perverse.
I dunno... I just hope this isn't the end of the road for America, democracy, the West, and human civilisation (to be honest I do expect those entities to be a row of dominoes which will overwhelmingly likely fall one after the other if any one of the first few collapses, it's an uncomfortable and potentially controversial view, but, I just can't see how it can be otherwise).

Yeah unfortunately, the right wing Christian fundamentalists are in power now. I tried to tell everyone that Trump was nothing but trouble from the start, but only a handful of other democrats would listen. Now we're paying the price. Soon we're going to see a whole different country. The frustrating thing is that this whole mess was done by man and it can be undone by man, but it's just not happening. All I can do is join forces with the other democrats in hopes of maintaining damage control, but I just have a bad feeling about this. Thank God I'm past childbearing age. I'm glad I never had children because I honestly think they would be inheriting a dictatorship instead of a democracy.

i'm a republican with no plans on ever getting an abortion and i still find that situation to be disgusting. luckily most abortions are done on the first trimester and ordering pills online will be infinitely cheaper and easier, also less traumatic for women seeking abortions. i'm not very keen on the subject so i do not understand what the fuzz is about, except for the criminalization part which really sucks

Well back in the 80's and 90's, it was a procedure done in the doctor's office or clinic with a machine. Nowadays, from what I've read, I guess they give you pills to miscarry. I've also read that you can still get the procedure done, but pills are apparently more popular now.

I agree with everything you say except blaming Trump without looking at what is going on right now under Biden. Trump has been out of office for awhile now and under Biden's administration, the country has gotten worse in every direction. Trump may have been a baffoon, but this ruling happened during Biden's term, yet somehow, you blame Trump. All I ever hear is complaining. We the people. The problem is the fucking Congress. We need an entire new Congress, one that is not just self-serving and get the corporations out of the government. We need some solutions for a change.

Thanks for commenting on my posting. To set it straight, I am not a Republican, nor a Democrat. I have been told I am a combination of old Democrat policy, some old time conservative thinking, but seem to be more Libetarian. I am registered Independent. The truth of the matter is I think that both parties are a disgrace and how the entire last three years have gone done is an embarresment to the entire world and Americans. (sorry about spelling, it's late and I'm tired.)
I listen to everyone and respect everyone's beliefs, opinions and look at the facts from every side of the spectrum. And it is a shitshow. Why it even matters to people that these selfish, greedy shitheads in Washington, DC even deserve a second of our time still astounds me. The dumbing down of America.
I believe in this country and especially the people -- on both sides -- and I trust that the next generation will cancel the shitshow soon and get some semblemce of order, their way in the near future.

I do not express myself as well as I would like to, but I agree with what you said. My dream is to teach constitutional law at a university, so I am ready to apply to law school now and I need to be a practicing attorney in order to teach. I already plan on opening my own firm after I pass the bar. All of this, so I can fulfill a dream. I am angry at the leaders in Washington DC as well as locally. They seem to have lost sight of what the country stands for. Everyone is pulling stunts and making up their own rules as they go along, both sides are so full of shit, I cannot believe anything that comes out of the government. Yet, I believe in the citizens of this country and believe we all want the same thing. We are just nuisances to the leaders, and they have NO CONSIDERATION FOR WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY OR FOR ANY PERSON IN THIS COUNTRY. Self-serving has become the norm.

George Washington's farewell address foretold everything that is happening now, per his warnings. He that political parties would tear the nation apart, that they would only be self-serving.
In the modernized version, and to paraphrase, Washington stated that enemies, both external and external, will do everything in their power to bring this country down -- to try and divide this nation and make everyone lose faith in it. He said we needed to preserve our nation with everything we had and to treat it like a jealous person in love. He said we all have the same goals and need to work together, even with our differences. I believe in that. Washington said we all need each other and we are stronger when we are together.
That is just a small part of his address, but I think you get the gist of it. I think that every person in this country needs to read it now, before the reason why this experiment came to be -- to be free from tyranny here or elsewhere -- is forgotten.
