Mental Health Non ssris for depression?

I don't think Lamictal or Depakote are covered with my insurance. I don't know about lithium. But at this point I just feel like what's the use. Might as well just drink and at least have my own personality and a working dick.

If you drink and your bipolar then you are bringing much suffering on yourself.

(1) Stop fucking drinking, alcohol affects every single neurotransmitter and brain system - fuck that shit off. You can not drink alcohol if you are actively unwell and unstable - period.
If you do, watch the years of you're like roll by in misery. I speak from experience.
I never had a problem with alcohol, I just drank to feel better, to be sociable, but in the end I realised that it was the alcohol causing much of the problem.

(2) Get a second opinion - bipolar is very easy to misdiagnose. Have you had an extended period when you have been free of substances and still had swings from mania to depression?
If you are indeed bipolar then you need a mood stabilizer period. Which means Sodium Valproate/valproic acid or Lithium.
Lamotrigine is only useful if you dont have significant mania
Once you are on it then refer to point one more than ever - you need to realise that you have a serious illness and if you want a decent life then you need to look after yourself.
If you go through life pretending you can take drugs without consequence.. well fuck man, it is going to suck

That's a bit like telling an anorexic to start fucking eating. I don't drink everyday but it is something I struggle with pretty much everday.

My doctor hasn't brought up any of those drugs, he's only a gp. And I have no idea if those would even be covered under my insurance. I can't afford a psychiatrist.

Only drug I take is alcohol besides what I'm prescribed by my doctor. And yeah I know there's consequences, but to be honest I don't really care how long I live. I don't want to die, but old age sucks anyways.

I have been drinking everyday to excess to combat bipolar and a depressive episode, quit drinking 8 days ago to try see how its going to help. plan is to stay sober (in terms of not drinking to excess every day) and just drink socially. there are going to be times where excess will happen, which is what I am anticipating but maybe not, who knows. day by day.

Good luck... I didn't drink yesterday. The day before that I only had 1 1/2 shots. Although the day before that I had 1 1/2 shots less than a 1/5th of wodka. lol
