Non Nobis Solum and closing threads

I completely understand that part of a moderator's job is to close inappropriate threads. That said, I read and participate in a lot of the forums. Other moderators comment, offer advice, participate in the discussion. But the mod in my title--Non Nobis Solum only ever answers to close a thread. I thought maybe it just seemed that way to me,so I looked, and sure enough every thread he/she participates in is only to close it.

I just don't think that's what being a mod in OD is all about. Closing threads is a part of moderating, but I've even seen when searching for mods that part of the job description is to participate and facilitate discussion.

Or am I wrong?
