Long story short: I spent yesterday in the emergency room because I have a massive abscess on my right scrotum. This appeared on Monday and looked like a pimple, so naturally I continually tried to squeeze it, and it got much worse very quickly. My GF left work after an hour to take me to the doctor, we were sent straight to ED.
They offered to keep me overnight as an inpatient and drain it today but I had been awake for 30 hours by this point (worked the night before) and was heavily fucked up on the opioids they gave me. So now I'm slothing around the house, self medicating with valium, xanax, zopiclone and non prescription painkillers/anti-inflammatories while keeping up my course of antibiotics and trying to suppress the anger about having to wait four more days to get this cunting thing drained. My right scotum is more than 5x the size of the left one right now, so doing almost anything is extremely uncomfortable.

On top of all this, I was supposed to go away with my parents and brother this weekend and mum had contacted my ex and organised to get my son for a few nights, whom I have been aliented from since last June. Now there is a big chance that I might not get to see him, which has triggered a massive onset of depression - I broke down in tears for a solid hour in the hospital and have been having major mood fluctuations since. I feel like this one medical annoyance is going to lead me on a downward spiral, and I'm very concerned about my well-being right now. May need a few extra days off work just to get my mind back to normal.

Take those extra days off work to get your head right. What you're going through sounds extremely painful, and you should take as much time as you need and not feel bad about it.

Try and stay active getting these days while you're off work and aren't in as much pain anymore. Just chill back and try to push through this, you will get it drained soon enough and hopefully never have to go through this again. Sorry buddy.

Excellent advice, thank you.

Whoa! That sounds intense! Did the doctors give you any explanation regarding it?
They're unsure. I had a similar thing years ago that sort of solidified for a year then one day sitting on the dunny it just felt ready and burster like a pimple once I applied pressure lol
