No substitute for facing one's own reality, however that may appear, without judgment or condemnation -- simply with acceptance.
No substitute for living in the here and now, rather than in the mind.
No substitute for insight, rather than escapism.
No substitute for letting go, rather than holding on.
And no escape from life's lessons -- particularly those where helplessness is the main event.
