Hello everyone,

I am new to BL and was wondering if I could get any answers for some questions specifically about Nitrous Oxide. First of all, I am quite confused about the safety of the substance itself. I know about the risks of suffocation, freezing your lungs, etc. However, I wanted to know if Nitrous, being classified as an inhalant, could be responsible for Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome (SSDS)? I ask this because I know of a former student at my old high school that died using this substance at a party. That being said, there were many rumors being thrown around as to why they passed, yet no one knows for sure the official cause of death. This was not the first time this person had used the drug so I feel like they had to have some sort of experience using it "correctly". I am concerned that this chemical is not as safe as some people think if when used with caution. Basically what I am wondering is if one were to use Nitrous with caution (using a balloon in a well ventilated area and taking breaths of air in between hits), would there be anything to worry about in terms of life-threatening possibilities, no matter how rare? Thanks!

No, that's bollocks- nitrous cant cause shit like that. It was used in dentistry for decades perfectly safely. In theory, i guess you could breath enough of it in to starve the brain of oxygen, but you'd fall unconscious long before that could happen. I've used medical nitrous cannisters before, inhaling for up to 50 seconds without serious side effects. The drug is perfectly safe to use if done responsibaly imho.

Nitrous Oxide should be respected. I had a dentist who "disappeared" for the weekend. Turned out he had put the Nitrous gas mask on after finishing up on a Friday, only to be found dead by his nurse the following Monday morning.

And you should know that the stuff they sell at head-shops, or at specialty shops (for whipping cream) has not been approved for human consumption, for all you know you could be inhaling metal dust with your Nitrous Oxide. You also need to be careful, don't inhale the gas directly--it's much too cold for that, you need some type of vessel or filter to let it cool before inhalation.

That said I absolutely love nitrous, while I try to stay away from it I do allow myself a binge while on certain drugs or once or twice a year.

Medical grade tanks are the way to go IMO. Ballons are best. Don't be stupid like my friend and use punching bag ballons. We had a 5ft tank in is house and he had a punching bag ballon in his hand until the tank was empty. He ended up puking up white shit and got very sick after using it for 24hrs+. Make sure you are sitting down when you use it. I've seen too many people at festivals stand and "phish" out and fall flat on their face. To the spectator it's quite funny. But it's really NOT funny as you can seriously hurt yourself.

NEVER use auto grade. Some people try to get away with that shit and it's very toxic. I've tasted it and my lord is it foul.

Kitchen grade (the kind sold in headshops) is just a waste of time and money.

Tanks are the only way to go IMO. And the gasmask method is just asking for trouble. When you are at a dentist, they mix the n20 with oxygen to prevent what happened to that dentist Blind Melon mentioned. And don't be stupid and do it alone. If you get a tank you need to have someone who is a good friend who will stop you from going to far. The reason that dentist died is he had no one to monitor him. He didn't simply "phish" out.

Be careful. I love Nitrous and used to get tanks weekly. It's very moreish. Like I said; one ballon will turn into another, and another, etc, etc...

It's called "Hippie crack" for a reason. Once you inhale your first ballon you won't stop until the tank is empty.

Also, one more question. Is it safe to take nitrous oxide on 150-200 mg of zoloft?
