Interesting thread. I'll add my take even if it's a little late.
I find nitrous a very difficult to fathom drug. I've had some of my most intense and jaw dropping hallucinations while on it. Really crazy stuff has happened to me and I have wondered if it's just me but I guess other people get them too.
I often do nos while playing music on my PC, certainly while on psychedelics the music visualizations literally appear to come alive and jump out of the computer screen (if you haven't tried this it can be incredible btw!). One time the visualization was made up of fine lines or wires that came out and I could touch and play with them with my finger like a guitar string or spiders thread. Completely out of the blue it sliced my little finger clean off and I saw it drop! I clutched my hand and yelped in shock, shutting my eyes tight and preying it wasn't real. When I returned back from nitrous land of course my hand was fine but wow what a fright!
Another time I was out in the woods with my ipod on acid and did nos and the trees came alive (like treebeard off LotR). It was one of the most amazing, beautiful and memorable experiences of my life.
I feel that many times the nos trip can be amazing and mind blowing in a good way, but sometimes it can really smack you in the face and leave you shaken and unsettled. As is the way though even after a difficult trip I'll usually finish off the box if there's any left

this is no joke- prolonged nitrous use defo depletes b vits,. google subacute combined degeneration of the cord- more than a few people have ended up paralysed. not wanting to scare anyone etc. but I've seen 1 case & its bad shit
