We are getting on a bit now so have settled into comfortable routines. One of said routines is our choices regarding evening viewings…

It basically boils down to the bulk (ie Evening Viewing - which is usually a movie or Netflix/whatever show) followed by…

… a sliver of Nighttime Viewing (which consists of channels like Dire Trip, Scary Interesting, Bedtime Stories, etc - basically true crime/paranormal) followed by…

… the overnight Nighttime Nighttime ((which consists of a rotating series of mostly sitcoms we’ve seen so often they’re just background noise thus assisting sleep)

At the moment our Nighttime Nighttime is Scrubs. Do any of y’all have similarly weird rituals? What are they? What makes up your Nighttime Nighttime?

❤️

My evening viewing window is currently very short due to a combination of factors:

Needing to get up for work earlier than is natural for me, although I am gradually adjusting, I'm still tired and sleepy in the evenings or late afternoons as soon as I get comfy on the couch. Combine this with the methylphenidate for my ADHD wearing off, and crashing my energy levels, and it's a double whammy. Finally I've found that to get to bed and sleep earlier, and feel so much better the next day, if I take my Mirtazapine and nightly benzo before my evening meal, rather than after. When I do this, the combo kicks in hard and fast once I've eaten. I usually vape a little weed too, before dinner, and it does feel very pleasant to nod in and out of the weed/benzo/mirtazapine sleep on the sofa, after my meal, but it's better just to go to bed. So boring and un-bluelightesque I know. But this is my worknight routine.

Things often change considerably whenever I get a break of at least 2 days off work.

If I wasn't so tired and sleepy on worknights, top of my list would be re-watching Better Call Saul from the start, as I still havent seen the final series.

During the working week, If I sit back on the couch I can't even finish 20 minute you tube videos, or episodes of The Simpsons, or Rick and Morty, without nodding off. It's all because my schedule has been made 2-3 hours earlier than normal by work. I usually have a good few hours of usable energy from mid afternoon, after I've got home from work, that if I can use so long as I keep active, standing up, moving around, even sitting at my computer and posting or reading is active enough that I wont fall asleep.

Mirtazapine is excellent as a nighty-night SSRI-style script - although weight gain can be an issue for sure. Combined with a benzo of choice and I can see how you’d be good to go routine or not =D

I only watched the first season of BCS and found it a little slow. I heard it gets better as it goes though so on my To Watch list for sure :)

I cannot fall asleep to anything I'm interested in. Hence why we have different tiers to winding down at night. Personally I like stuff on the spooky side as my pre sleep watching. Then when that's done it has to be something I've seen and enjoyed a million times. For some reason my sleep shows are seasonal. Right now it's scrubs but when the warmer weather hits it'll switch to Schitts Creak.

I’ve kinda come around to your way of doing things, m’dear. If left to my own devices I’d fall asleep to physics lectures cos that always pleased me… but I’ve definitely come to love our Nighttime Nighttime routines ❤️

Oh, and don’t forget Superstore. That’s a biggie around late winter, I believe.
