Nightmare Induced Lucid Dream

A few days ago I had the first and only Lucid Dream I have ever had. The weird thing was is that it was induced from a nightmare that I have had more than once. In this nightmare I recognized the place, people, and things that were going on and for some reason I knew poison was going to be in the air and we would all die. For some reason it clicked in my mind that I had to be dreaming if I knew what was going to happen. Suddenly I knew I wasn't going to die and I just stood there and then realized I could do whatever I wanted(which is a pretty incredible feeling). I decided I wanted to fly, looked up, and lifted off the ground. When I got high enough, I started to fly over a huge forest but for some reason couldn't fly fast. Then I thought to put out my fist like Superman and began to fly f*cking incredibly fast. I clearly remember thinking how incredible this was and that I hope I never wake up :). Then I decided to land on a tower that I saw in the distance. Once I was on the tower I decided I wanted to have sex. I turned around and a girl was standing there. I walked over to her and started to kiss her and take here clothes off but right when I was about to have sex with her I woke up. It's really indescribable how awesome this dream was. Does anyone here have lucid dreams often? Can you control when you have them?

One thing I want to do if I ever have another Lucid Dream is to shoot up heroin! Has anyone ever done this in a lucid dream? How cool would it be to get a safe, free H rush whenever you want, right?

i was able to be self aware and do as i pleased a few times....i would wake up and go back to it...kinda like a daydream you direct but in rem state...cool i could not hit someone tho..my fist would move slow mo style..and if i ran it was like running in a swim pool..slow and futile, and damn irritating i could not move fast..

Controlling the rate at which you have lucid dreams is difficult, but totally doable. It takes a lot of practice and I would recommended reading some guides online, but taking it all with a grain of salt as many of those guides are completely wrong.

Lucid dreaming is a bit like holding a bubble in your hand and keeping it from popping. However the more you do it, the longer and more realistic your lucid dreams are. Eventually they can pretty much pass as reality. The movie inception has a lot of truth to it.

In order to hold a good lucid dream, it's important to remain confidence and know that you're the god of the world you're in. The moment you doubt your capability to keep it going, is the moment you will wake up.

I've had lucid dreams that seemed like they lasted hours.

lucid dreaming is wicked. ive only had one lucid dream, and spent the whole time running around panicking wondering how i was gonna wake up. tried to get myself run over by a lorry because i thought i was gonna be stuck there forever. then i woke up and realized i was still dreaming, which was fucked up. then i actually woke up and thought i was still dreaming. things felt pretty surreal for awhile. dunno what triggered this lucid dream, but it was very weird and extremely real-feeling

I've had lucid dreams in which I convinced myself I was in heaven, and the most powerful ecstasy-like high came over my body with a sense of glowing confidence.

The most perfect music was playing as I was passing through a vibrant blue canyon into a black abyss.

I've also traveled to houses and places that I would soon go to in the future. The first time it happened and I stepped into a place I'd been to in a dream, I felt like I saw a ghost.

I went into a weird trance/lucid dream once right after going to bed. I thought I was awake, in the next room, and that I had just consumed a psychadelic. At some point I hit my face on our coffee table and thought "that's weird why don't I feel pain?" then I saw my reflection and saw that one of my front teeth was out and I had blood gushing out, then I woke up, feeling quite inceived.

That is awesome! Have you every tried doing any type of drugs? Is the high pretty real feeling?

The drug part of this thread seems to rule out Second Opinion. I'm thinking dreams fall into P&S more than S&T. Almost Drug Culture but not quite. P&S it is.

From age 6-9, I had a recurring nightmare where the fireplace sucked me in and nearly immolated me (I don't feel pain in dreams, so "nearly"). My first lucid dream coincided with the last of these nightmares...once I knew that it was my dream and that I was invincible, the fire couldn't vacuum me in anymore.

^^

Interesting

About the same age range, bit younger perhaps, I had a lot more control over my dreams, and the frequency of lucid dreams was really high. In adulthood I am lucky to get one lucid dream per 3-6 months. Sorry to disappoint you LuvH8Relationship but I have never got high off dream-drugs [your milage may differ]:)

I'm pretty sure I tricked my mind into releasing an incredible amount of pleasure hormones via subconscious.

It was better than anything Ive ever experienced awake to be honest. The next day was like an afterglow. Yes it was like the feeling every drug wishes they could induce!

Only done it twice :/

I lucid dreamed twice in my life. I controlled everything and it was an incredible experience.

Interesting. Frequency of lucid dreaming peaked for me around ages 19-22. At that point, I would lucid dream roughly twice a month. At this point, I figured out that trying to make women appear for sex was mostly a waste of time (given that I would never finish in dreams :P). What gets really interesting is asking dream characters directly about your dream. To some extent, I believe that this allows more direct access to any structures of meaning to be found in the subconscious pertinent to dreaming.

Drugs also work in my dreams, but usually the effects are a bit 'off'. I once took MDA that had the sole effect of turning my vision plaid. :P

I lucid dream probably twice a week for the past year or 2 years of my life. Usually induced by alcohal for some reason i lucid dream a lot when i am drunk from brandy.

I find the time once i realize im in a dream and i can control every aspect of this world i am in time starts to move muchhh slower. But its a very powerful feeling.

What i find interesting is the fact I have died about 6 times in highly vivid / semi lucid dreams. Most people wake up when they die in a dream but 6 times now i have gone beyond the death.

Each time it happens a darkness comes over me and im thinking to myself well Derek you are no longer dreaming you must of died in your sleep.. isnt this interesting? Coming to terms with being dead.. feeling as if i am falling down a huge pit but fear / sadness / longing for others was completely gone, non-existant. I feel as if a warm blanket is wrapped around me and soothing me almost similar to a strong salvia trip.

Each time i awoke from these deaths i was a changed person with a new outlook on life and hunger for an adventure but my question is what the hell happened... It is unlike any dream or lucid dream i have ever experienced.

I once ended up in a sort of limbo i believe.. it was a huge white room everthing i said came out in bubble letters.. random bikes trains and other things would go past me then disappear i had no real thoughts, expressions or emotions on where i was.. i was just there. Only happened once scared the shit out out of me.

This is REM rebound, in the wake of alcohol's effect of suppressing REM sleep.

Man when these dreams happen and I become "aware" it can be like a strong trip. I had a waking nightmare where this guy was touching my face and morphing it like in some strange music video. It freaked me out because I was aware the whole time...finally he went away but I woke up...and called off work!
