Nicotine

^ ecigs could be useful if you're determined, you really want to, not because you 'want' to cos, say, doctors told you you're gunna get copd at a really early age if you don't. And, you are able to cope with some nicotine craving as IMO it just takes edge off. Lastly, don't expect it to be exactly like a ciggarette - feels totally different.
My brother and I both got 1 of these with 200 cartridges each. Think I lasted 2 days, my brother a week, though we only tried cus he gets nagged off his bird to quit and I get nagged off everyone over my chest. Basically I wanted a proper fag, with proper smoke an nicotine with all those poisonous chemicals cos my health is screwed anyway so I'm past caring - for someone who does care and has a bit of willpower, I can see that these could be helpful.

for OP try to get good ecigs, because you might end up going through a lot of money and cartridges with shitty brands. I'm going to use refillable e cigs and it seems like the most cost efficient kind of e cig. good e cigs with the strong nicotine content will make you kind of buzzed, or atleast takes the edge off in my experience.

I don't use carts. I pre-load a bigger chamber with liquid, with no cotton. It's definitely more "narcotic" or "stoning" than a strait cig. I much prefer it over tobacco now. It's way cheaper this way too. I've spent $25 on liquid in the last 4 months, vs. $20+ a day with cigs, and I'm not longer hacking anything up or coughing.
Guys I kind of have this theory. See, about a year ago I had a script to adderall (Amphetamine salts), and it was a 2 20mg ir a day script, which are pretty good doses. When I was taking the amphetamines, I completely lost all cravings for cigarettes, and I didn't even try to stop smoking, I just did. Like I didn't want em anymore, didn't need em. Almost like I couldn't smoke cause it wasn't appetizing anymore. Can it be said that amphetamines are a good help to quitting cigarettes? Or was it just me?
But then you're stuck using amps daily, no? I can see how they'd help with getting over the initial hurdle of getting used to not smoking at all though.

I think it comes down to developing good habits and pulling willpower from your feet whenever you find faith slipping away. Time takes a long time...

Ecigarettes have changed my life. I smoked at least a pack a day for 11 years without fail, and since purchasing my first e-cigarette almost two months ago now, have actually revolted at the idea of a regular cigarette. Haven't looked back yet - it's been a remarkable venture, and I feel *SO* much healthier right now... it's indescribable. Truly.

I'm not really intending to make a pitch for e-cigarettes, more of a personal testimonial and something you might want to at least try out. No medication or nicotine replacement therapy has done for me what this has - none has kept me from smoking. Today is day 62 with no 4,300x chemical-rich smoke. :)

I would second everyones suggestion for ecigs. They are amazing. When they first came out they were a bit shotty and even the ones sold in convenient stores are still shotty but if you do some research (there is a huge e cig forum http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/) you can find exactly what model you need and what works and what doesn't work.

There are models that hold a large amount of liquid, models that come with multiple cartridges (so you have several different flavors to switch off quickly with). There are so many awesome flavors and the smoke production on the larger pen style ones is more than an actual cigarette so it's quite satisfying.

Ecigs helped me quit cigarettes last year in April.

I'll put out a little bit of my favorites and what I have found to work the best. I spent a lot of money working through a lot of models before I found a good combo:

I found the ego-w to be my favorite for battery life and vapor production. I also like the Vision EGO modified tank because it holds a fair amount of liquid (2-3 days worth) and has a bigger mouth opening for better vapor production.

What I liked most about ecigs was that you could purchase liquids in different nicotine strengths so you could start out at regular and taper down to light and then to 0 nicotine.

Hope this helps you if you are leaning in the e cigarette direction. It worked for me and never left me unsatisfied like patches or gum.

^awesome suggestions, Stardust!

2-3 days worth wow... I've just begun researching models to graduate to from my automated-battery rechargeable minis. Thanks :)

EDIT: *avoid* the p.o.s. gas station brands like Njoy and Jasper&Jasper, rip offs with defective parts and no customer service. The best advice above is to research, research research!

I've started replacing normal times that I would go out for a smoke (such as before bed etc) with an e-cig at the convienience store. It's made in Canada with no nicotine, but works great! It even lights up at the end when you inhale, lol.

However I have started using Depressant class drugs (weed, vodka, methocarbanol, lorazepam, zopiclone, oxazepam & hydrocodone) to keep my irratation/not being able to sleep from the Zyban down. I have to do it as I rent a room in the same place as my Dad & he's bi-polar. Definitely not looking forward to the withdrawals I have to face. Merely physical, not mental. Tonight it took 7.5mg of Zopiclone, 15mg of Oxazepam snorted, & 3 chugs of Vodka. :( Definitely not proud, but I have to work early & deal with those that are uncompromising.

On the bright side, I've basically cut my smoking in half. Day 10 & I'm still smoking (which is the day you're supossed to stop), but I'm feeling good self-esteem & confidence. :D

What helped me was replacing cigarettes with chew when I've tried to quit. The chew is gross, you need a spitter, and it doesn't give you that big kick that a cigarette will. But it tastes good and satisfies the oral fixation component of cigarette smoking So I've found it way easier to go from Marlboro to Levi Garrett's to Nothing than to just go straight from Marlboro to Nothing.

That said, I generally just end up chewing tobacco a lot when I quit. I've quit nicotine entirely for weeks on end but there's just something about it.

Your mouth is designed to take a bit of a beating, your lungs aren't. There's some very promising research coming out about harm reduction tobacco products. Cigars, pipes, swedish snus, american dipping snuff, american chewing tobacco, and nasal snuff are all much less likely to cause cancer than cigarettes. The safest of all of those is swedish snus and nasal snuff. But you pretty much can only find those online. Unless you're in the south: Food Lion carries a lot of dry snuffs that you can sniff, they're difficult to get used to though, American dry snuff is some rough stuff and it takes a while to learn how to sniff it without coughing and sneezing like a madman.

The e-cigs never worked for me. They just didn't feel like the Real McCoy. Nicotine addiction isn't just about nicotine, it's also about the pleasant taste of tobacco. And the MAOIs that are in tobacco, lest we forget.

Well, yesterday I only had 1 cig & today I had 3, so I think I'm on the way to starting to do well. :) Both days made it to 6PM before having a smoke & I'm a pretty early riser.

Ended up having 3 today, but they were that's the end of my pack. I'm feeling really confident about it too. I had them because I chose to, not because I needed too. I started with Number 7 Red, so that's what I'm ending with. I don't have that "Oh no! I'm out of smokes & won't have one for the morning." Feeling at all. :)

Keep me fingers crossed 4u - 1 thing I will not giv up til am in me wooden box, jst not got the willpower. Hope u manage it! Keep us posted.

Funny story about me and nicotine. I'm recovering from a psychotic break etc. When I first got out of the hospital I was smoking more than a pack a day. Doing this for a few weeks resulted in some chest congestion, as you can imagine. I would interpret this chest congestion, irrationally, as there being something wrong with my heart, and this would induce a panic attack. So I started cutting WAY back on the cigs, down to less than 10 a day. Then my panic attacks actually got worse. I kept having them and I had no idea why.

Threw in a big pinch of strong snuff (Copenhagen FC) and the symptoms went away. It's ridiculous how sensitive my brain is to substances since that Trip. So I can't smoke cigarettes, because the constant sneaking suspicion that I'm giving myself lung cancer or heart problems is too much stress for me. But I'm physically dependent on nicotine at this time.

It's just ironic, and neurotic as hell, and kind of funny :)
