Nicotine Vapor: Recreational for non-smokers?

I am a regular user of the e-cig, and I have never been a cigarette smoker. In college my roommate (who smoked) bought one and let me play around with it. I bought one shortly after. There are a number of reasons why I chose to buy one, despite the fact that I don't smoke cigs. First, I find the smoke of cigarettes to be harsh and disgusting, making them highly unpleasurable. I enjoy the nicotine buzz from smoking hookah though, since the smoke is more "vaporized" than truly smoked, along with the yummy flavors. The electronic cigarettes combine these positive aspects, while removing all of the risks of actual tobacco use. I get a portable, flavored, and easy to smoke device that can deliver a decently powerful short acting stimulant on demand. Not to mention to awesome "high tech" cool factor of using a futuristic drug-delivery system.

I do find the e-cig to be intoxicating, and yeah, maybe even recreational too. It takes a bit of practice, but once you learn to hit it, it's surprisingly effective. I'll use it most every day, but don't find it to be at all addictive. I can easily go for a few days to weeks without even thinking about it. Also, there doesn't seem to be much of a tolerance built, except in the short term. I haven't noticed any decline in the strength of the effect, even after weeks of heavy use.

Niotine itself apparently seems only weakly addictive/reinforcing without the MAOIs (harmala alkaloids) found in tobacco.

I'd be curious to take a (small) dose of harmaline/harmine, then try the nicotine oral spray, and see what difference there may be in reinforcing effects. I do not find the oromucosal spray addictive or reinforcing at all. Actually, I tend to take 5-6mg nicotine via this route, just prior to smoking a rollup for the MAOI contribution, and this way at least, it is moderately recreational.

I've been really liking my ecig, but I can definitely see what people dont like about them. I bought mine because for a few month I was regularly rolling spliffs, even though I'm not a fan of tobacco. I would just roll my weed with tobacco to mask the smell a bit when I was in more public place. When I stopped smoking spliffs I had gotten addicted to nicotine, but still hated cigarettes, so the ecig helped me with the nicotine without having to smoke cigarettes. I could taper off with it, but I enjoy the bursts of nicotine and the flavors. Also, I love just being able to give a few puffs here and there throughout the day instead of having to smoke a whole cigarette.

Some electronic cigs claim to have a "real tobacco" flavor, but whether this is merely flavoring + nicotine or involves an extract of tobacco I am unsure. I have personally only ever tried those that are ostensibly just nicotine in propylene glycol.

As per the lable of e.smoking liquid from Pillbox 38:

1. Tobacco essential oil <5%
2. Tobacco leaf oil <5%
3. Nicotine (from tobacco leaf) < 3%
4. 2,3,5-Trimethylpyrazine <1%
5. 2,3,5,6-Tetramethlpyrazine <1%
6. 2,5-Dimethylpyrazine <1%
7. 2-Aceypyrazine <1%
8. 2-Methyl butyic acid <1%
9. Terp ineol <1%
10. Ethyl maltol <1%
11. Guaiacol <1%
12. Acetyl pyridine <2%
13. Octalactone (gamma) <1%
14. Pure water (?) <10%
15. Propylene glycol <65%
16. Glycerol <20%

I have no idea what most of this stuff even is.

I recommend packing a fat lip of dip / chew tobacco.. and then heading to the nearest toilet.. if you really want to get f'd up from nicotine =D

Ya, but that's from not just the higher dose of nicotine, but because the nic in dip is oxidated iirc. I wonder if it's feasible to vape o-nic without dying.

I tried tobacco in a joint when I was younger and really wasn't keen on the whole combusted material + head rush. As such I've never smoked.

I thought I'd give nicotine a go, since so many people love it, but this was before e-cigarettes were available so I went for a patch. This is what I wrote at the time.

1mg/hr patch applied to the arm.
t + 0-29mins nothing much, mild skin irritation
t + 30 patch is very itchy
t + 45 pleasant lightheadedness
t + 55 thirst and subtle nausea
t + 60 nausea increases. pessimistic outlook on everything.
t + 65 i have to lie down, it is too unbearable to sit about. I vape a small amount (not stoned) of hash. If it does anything the effects are very subtle.
t + 70 I take the patch off and wash the area with water (as directed in the event of "side effects")
t + 70-130 I snooze until the nausea has gone enough to get up
The times were recalled from memory afterwards, and may not be completely accurate.
t+3 loose bowel movement

F&B's comment certainly resonates. The nausea didn't really feel like I was going to be sick but it was really unpleasant and as stated, completely overpowering. Even after my nap it lingered for a while.

I threw the rest of the box away and haven't touched a cigarette since, so I suppose you could say they worked!

Transdermal nicotine feels a lot different than the vaped eliquid mixture I wrote about in post #25.

Different ROAs for various drugs yield different experiences for me. The best example of this I have come across thus far is with MXE.

I've tried snorting, sublingual, oral and vaped, and each ROA produces quite a different experience for me.
