Nice, clean-burning refillable lighters?

I've always used regular Bics, but lately I've been thinking about buying a nice refillable lighter. Problem is, I can't find any that claim to be cleaner-burning or somehow superior to regular throw-aways. Surely not all non-torch lighters are the same primitive design with the same amount of uncombusted leakage which ends up in your mouth. I want a nice fucking lighter... Do they exist?

Edit: I guess it just isn't a big advertising point... I'm considering ordering a Vector KGM Maximus, though.

If you're trying to light cigarettes/cigars/blunts I'd go with a torch butane lighter.

If you're looking for a lighter for bowls and bongs then you're pretty much out of luck. (As far as I know.)

Those torch lighters don't seem to taint the taste of your smoke one bit.

I've tried them all, but nothing beats my Dunhill and Zippo w/ softflame T-bird insert w/ triple refined butane. So clean.

I don't know much about lighters, but for your pot I'd stick to the good cheap Bic. I know when I'm high I tend to lose anything and everything, and it's kept me from making any sort of lighter investment...because I'm probably going to get high and misplace it and then be extremely angry with myself.

Plus, bowls and bongs tend to eat up lighter fluid, and I feel as if the cheap Bics tend to go through less than the nice fancy lighters you can purchase...don't have any source for this, just personal experience.

OP, let us know if you do find a good one that works for bowls/bongs anyway, if you do choose that route, because as Jibult says, I'm thinkin' you're SOL on that one.

A bloke i used to smoke with used to tell me that Bic stood for 'Best at Igniting Cannabis'. Obviously not true but you cant go wrong with them.

Colibri Firebird will always be my favorite lighter. Relatively inexpensive by cigar lighter standards, simple slip & click cover, good weight (i.e. not easy to lose) and refillable of course. I don't really understand what is meant by "uncombusted leakage." Zero impurity Colibri butane will release nothing more than insignificant doses of atmospheric gases when combusted and any leakage that isn't part of the main plasma stream will become very evident by the cool breeze you feel emanating between your fingers. I expect Colibri would exchange your product without a question if one of their lauded products were flawed like that!

anyway, torch lighters are also good at lighting bowls because you can hold the flame at a length and light the herb indirectly with the HEAT, not with the flame, meaning less THC is destroyed during it's conversion to vapour as it joins the smoke of the burning green.

I've used torch lighters.

I've also used Ronson brand lighters that are a step up from a bic and are plastic and refillable and I just found those at local gas stations/convenience stores.

I have this weird feeling that if I tried smoking a bowl with a torch lighter I'd end up with a terrible burn on my thumb or index finger, even if I tried this indirect lighting that you're talking about.

My first thought was "Holy shit, dude, he's like a lighter techie." =D

My Vector Maximus arrived. I can't believe I didn't order a proper lighter and some ultra-clean fuel long ago. The 90o flame position is also very convenient--it means I can hold the lighter at a 45 degree angle rather than a 135 degree angle using a cigarette lighter. There's not a hint of gas smell at all to the flame, unlike with a Bic. A worthwhile investment for any serious smoker who cares about taste, and possibly health. I imagine it's only as good as the fuel used, though. I'm using Vector's quintuplus-refined butane. For at home use only, because most people will lose it out in the field ;)

Any decent butane lighter if it's for lighting joints or blunts. For anything else though, nothing beats a regular Bic. Except one thing. Nothing beats smoking a bowl or bong and using hot glass to light it. You need to blow glass or have a friend that does, but me and my friends used to heat up the tip of a piece of clear rod on the torch and hold it an inch or so above the bowl using the heat coming off of it. It's cool and nothing beats the taste(as long as you have good smoke). Since all you taste is the bud.

Im trying to buy a clipper for soo long, but i allways spend my money on pot :p
