CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire House has killed a bill to decriminalize possession of up to an ounce of marijuana, one year after a similar measure died in the state Senate.

Democratic Rep. Steven Lindsey's bill would have imposed a maximum fine of $100 on those caught with an ounce of marijuana or less. Minors would have had to complete a drug treatment program and community service, or face an additional fine of $1,000. Possession of that amount is currently a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

The House passed a bill to decriminalize one quarter of an ounce last year. Gov. John Lynch threatened to veto it and the Senate killed it.

and to think the people from free state project want to set up shop in NH. Not quite as freedom loving as the project states it is.
