NEWS: The Age 27 Apr 03: Record ecstasy haul seized

Biscuit said:
It be interesting to know how much of the 15 % was inert additives (maybe people took a cut in Malaysia as it came through) and how much were impurities left over from the reaction.

Im guessing that they mean the quality of the MDMA was 85% pure meaning that it was not made to the best it could be made and the 15% had nothing to do with a "cut", 85% is pretty good quality MDMA.

Yes i agree with you; i was just covering all bases rather than proclaiming that the 15% were reaction impurities.

It is high, agreed, but is still good proof to people that no pill is EVER made with 100% MDMA and inert binder.

Urbanhog: you couldn't be closer to the truth.... if all of a sudden MDMA became legal and all precursors legal too, one would be able to buy enough precursors to make 200kg of ecsatcy for around $20,000. Now in some parts of the world, precursors might as well be legal because they were either cleverly diverted, stored from old times when they WERE legal or simply stolen! So its not far fetched that the amount seized is actually quite small on the large scale of things.

I have also read a DEA report in the past which stated that Israel-Russia sydicates often tip off authorities about ecstacy imports giving up the young and up coming crims excited to be trusted with an operation to smuggle large quantities at the same time. That was a direct DEA analysis.

Dance promoters linked to 170kg ecstasy haul
As reported in national media, two of the four Sydney men implicated in a 170kg ecstasy powder seizure were executives of public relations and promotions company Loop Domain, responsible for the recent Good Times events featuring Norman Jay and Gilles Peterson, as well as touring agent for Carl Cox.

Managing Director Andrew Philip Riddell and Communications Director Nicolas James Pollis were both questioned by police, and the Loop Domain office was among three premises searched by Australian Federal Police on Saturday.

All four men implicated were arrested Saturday and have been charged with aiding and abetting the import of prohibited imports. Bail has been denied.
