NEWS: Pot Addicts Reclaim Their Lives

I think addiction to cannabis is as real as addiction to anything else. It's just that the severity of the consequences of cannabis addiction, for the vast majority of addicts, absolutely pale in comparison to the consequences experienced by the average hard drug addict. Moreover, the ratio of addicts/users is probably about as low as it is for any drug. I mean, I guess people like the bitch in this article end up selling all their shit for it (8(), but it's such a rare occurrence that it doesn't even have statistical significance. I believe such behavior speaks of much deeper issues than smoking pot every day.

Makes for good propaganda though. 8)

Instead of paying so much for weed why wouldnt this people just save for a minute, pick up a 50 bag, sell it, smoke the prophit for free? I mean I dont have a job and I have been smoking and getting drunk for free all summer.

If you are smart, you never need to sell anything to keep your habit alive.

Unless you are a fucking knob and pay like 25 bucks for a gram.

To the man smoking an ounce a day:

If you stopped blazing for a week you would have an entirely different opinion on your habbit. That's fucking nuts.

Are you ever sober? Personally I couldn't live like that.

For the people saying you cant smoke a quarter a day and be normal are wrong! My mate makes $200 a day $80 of that goes on a quarter every day and he smokes all of it then goes to work the next day to do all of it again in the arvo. Ive found pot the drug that is hardest to quit and im still stuck on the shit.

I thought this was funny too. But not entirely. I hate it how the media only ever report negative effects. It simply makes drug users appear stupid. Like "why would you use heroin if the effects were terrible?" - you'd have to be stupid to use it. When in reality, the effects of heroin are better than you can imagine, as in the exact opposite of "terrible" (until you do it too much and end up on a maintenance program like me that is...)

The problem, imho, seems to be people not accepting that some pain is part of life. People we love die, we break up from romantic relationships, etc. I put pot addiction into this cateogroy. Its some minor pain you just need to tough out. I also put pot in the same category as porn, food, video-game and "reading" addictions. Its an addiction to escape, pot just does it better than the other lesser addictions. I would call these habits more than addictions.

Yeah, someone with a $100/day pot habit has got to be a pretty serious tool. I mean, I suppose its possible to buy a full-price quarter every day and smoke the whole thing (!)... but why not just grow a couple plants every few months if you are going live like that.

Well how could you have a 100 dollar a day habit if it only costs like what, 50 dollars i think, dont know i get 30 pounds good quality, and thats like a weeks worth. Besides there is a limit to how high you could get.

I dont even smoke everyday.

This is obviously. exactly. How it goes down. I never used to smoke spun, and my weed withdrawls were simply " aww man, itd be nice to have a smoke". Whereas after 4 months of constant smoking spun everyday, quitting was like " omfg what is this hectic bullshit" though still quite acheivable. Shes from Australia. Shes smoking jays. Shes obviously spinning it. Cut this dumb shit out, stick a niccorette patch on the bitch and send her on her way.

I don't know about that...I used to smoke with baccy and now I smoke it straight...I think smoking it straight makes me notice the fact that when I stop I notice some difference....not debilitating or anything but there is a difference....and the more I smoke the bigger the difference I notice...goddamnit...how perfect would life be if there was no cause and effect...8)

I think marijuana addiction is a joke, but I do know people that smoke $500 worth of bud a week, and this is more money then I ever spent on my dope habbit. If you are spending more then 500 bucks a week on weed, you are no different then someone spending 500 a week on skag. Shit, at least you arean't burnt all day from a dope habbit. Marijuana isn't physically addictive, but neither is cocaine. If you have no self control, TV can be a problem, as can any substance.

I've seen marijuana addiction before, and watched people quit because of arrests and probation just fine. Sure the first couple weeks are shitty, and you are still gonna crave pot, but it's no different than craving chocolate or any other thing. If you have even one iota of self-control you'll be just fine. If you need three drugs to help you quit one, you have a serious fucking problem.

It's one thing to smoke too much put, but if you're selling your fucking car to get money for weed then you're an idiot. I'll grant you that it might be a hard habit to kick, I don't know first hand, but I'm willing to accept that it can be difficult to kick. But if you need weed so bad that you need to get rid of your car and house and rent money to get weed then you don't deserve any of those things.
