News has been hyping up a "heroin epidemic" in our area Ct & double the fatalities

Not sure if I'm in the right place, probably not but I'm sure a mod will direct if needed. So the whole week on the news(local) it's been "heroin epidemic reaching the suburbs with double the deaths because of fetaynal laced heroin. Dr's saying it's because of rx opiates. So it's all over Facebook & ignorant assholes put their 2 cents in which for some reason pisses the shit outta me. First of all I came from an upper-class subberb (Farmington if anyone knows Ct) where my mother has been a teacher for 20 years. This is not a "new" thing, my mom said farmington, Avon,simsbury, all upper middle class has just been sweeping it under the rug. And I know they have too because not only me but many of my friends from high-school have become addicted to heroin because of oxys & then went to dope because u guys know not to mention we are 10 mins from Hartford where you can get a bundle for $cheap(almost put the price then remembered. Lol) in about 2 mins. My mom said 6 years ago they found heroin in a middle schools locker but swept it under the rug because it's "Charmington" a stupid ass nickname for my hometown. It's been rampant for at least since 2001.

But now they can't because people are dying And that's kind of hard to hide. Anyways that's not what's really even pissing me off, it's the assholes who make ignorant ass comments on fb & I feel the need to respond to them because it works me up so much. A mother writes "anyone stupid enough to do heroin deserves to die & I tell my children the same thing & if they died because they were that stupid "Oh well." Seriously. I beg to differ. Many people with the "let them die off." You wouldn't believe the things these people say thinking they're above addiction somehow & it could NEVER happen to them. Well I bet all of us thought the same thing. What if you get an injury @ 45 & become addicted. Then some one writes they should ban all rx opiates. Great idea, what about the people who actually need them? I'm sure that one will work. I don't know why it works me up so much to the point of anxiety. Maybe I should just stay away but it's been on the news every night for 10 days. Sorry I just had to rant And rave to you guys because I know you guys are anything but ignorant.
 
It's natural selection...there's plenty of people who know how to shoot and never have issues with Heroin, so why worry about the rest? They knew Heroin was dangerous, no one forced them to take it.

In the past there was the Spanish Flu that killed millions, it's just natural selection. The strong live. We live on Planet Earth and, like any other shithole crawling with life it's also filled with dangerous things.

The only reason why people make a big thing about Heroin is because it's taboo, like sex, due to baby-boomer's narrow mentality. Especially in North America, that has a big taboo for sexual activities.

You know, they made a movie in Denmark that contained violence and nudity. When marketing it into USA, they feared an 18+ rating due to violence because, according to them, the violence scenes were quite intense. Then came the rating, USA rated the movie 18+ (adult). They said it was a porn movie. Then the Danish producers ask, well, what about the violence? And USA says, what violence? We saw no violence! Just blatant, straight out sex scenes.

So we observe in North America a total de-sensitization with respect to violence, and a hypersensitivity to sexual content.

i would love to know these people who occasionally shoot heroin and never run into problems down the road..do they exist, if so who are they and how long have they been chipping?in my experience anyone that chips for longer than 6 months or so ends up developing a nice habit..
 
I know it drives me nuts. They are so ignorant! Do they think we started out saying "my life goal is to become a junkie. And I live in a huge liberal state. People who think that they are "above" addiction drive me crazy. And they're kids are "above" it too. None is above addiction. I've seen Dr's lawyers people who have never done drugs in their life,get in some kind of accident or illness are rxed painkillers & get hooked. I was talking to my counselor this am because these comments were getting me heated. Even she was like practically anyone can become addicted to opiates, it's different from other drugs. There's no hangover, euphoria, feeling great, no depression(until u get hooked.) It's not like alcohol which have shitty hangovers,cocaine & that shitty coming comedowns I hope that made sense lol. It's excreadibily easy to get hooked on opiates. By the time you realize it you're hooked.
I've NEVER have known a person who has used it one time &never ever did it again.(I'm not saying it can't happen, I just personally have never seen it.
 
Don't let people on facebook get you so worked up. That's pretty much the only reason facebook exists anymore. It's a Social Trolling Network and IMHO has hurt our society more than it helps. People love to bully people on there. It's sad and pathetic no doubt. Ignorant people are going to post ignorant shit just to get attention. Try to kill them with kindness and share your knowledge and educate people. Don't feed the trolls. When this laced dope first hit Pittsburgh in January, I logged into my facebook just to warn friends I knew. I got a mixed reaction. Regardless I was able to alert people of the issue and they at least know. Educate, educate and educate. If you are passionate about it enough and care about your hometown you may consider calling the Principals of the schools and sharing information with them. As you said; people from middle to upper class try to shove their dirt under the rug. If you take this energy and try to educate the community you may just save some lives. The local news can only do so much and often has the opposite effect. Junkies who hear about OD's often seek out those "hot bags". I'm sorry these stupid people are driving you so crazy. I've been there myself. I recently called the local PD and Schools and warned them this shit was heading our direction if it wasn't already here. I don't know if it did any good, but sure as hell didn't do harm. I didn't snitch on anyone; I simply told them what to look for and what was going on and how junkies think. Good luck. It's going to be a rough year for heroin users. I'm sorry if you have lost anyone to it.

I don't get why Dr's wrong. The problem is obviously not the Heroin, since the mixed-in fentanyl is causing the overdoses. What they're saying is, because fentanyl is readily available via Rx, they are getting it on Rx and mixing it with Heroin, causing it to be more potent and less euphoric. The users who died were unhappy with the effects and injected more. What is their mistake? They thought it was 100% Heroin, and not a mixture of substances. Who's guilty? The idiot mixing fentanyl with Heroin and selling it as though it was 100% Heroin out of pure, unadulterated greed. They are murderers.

3-methylfentanyl is a chemical weapon, might as well mix Heroin with cyanide...no one can blame the Heroin.

No where are they saying dr's are wrong its in the original writing of pain scripts in general. The fent doesn't come from dr's as getting a months supply of patches to cut a brick or something isn't gonna work out in terms of getting it right. And this last point takes it all back to the original argument of education vs. ignorance. The people dying aren't from thinking its pure heroin or injecting more. I dont think anyone is that blissful and ignorant to think their average street bag is pure. If we aren't gonna educate people then more misinformation like this gets spread around and sounds great to some mayor or politician and bam NOTHING happens as usual. (nothing beneficial to the problem anyway)
 
All I know if I was doing dope on the east coast I would be pretty nervous about getting a hot bag. I say that sober but when in dope fiend mode I really wouldn't give a shit. Regardless I sometimes wonder if there is some reverse covert action that is trying to fuck up the dope scene or even just trying to scare (future?) users by flooding the market with shitty fent dope. But who would be doing that? Killing people to scare the bigger whole? Naw... Probably just a few idiots that don't know what they are doing and have dollars bills in their eyes. Still waiting to hear about some of the bigger fent or rc fent busts from this but haven't heard of much.
 
I agree with dub. Educating people, and bringing test kits to the dope scene, is what's going to save lives. If people are testing their "MDMA" why shouldn't they be testing their "heroin."

This whole public heroin epidemic has gotten me thinking, I wonder if anyone in government, or at Purdue, has at any time felt even a pang of remorse for the way this has gone. Or is responsibility distributed so thinly and impersonally that it hasn't even crossed anyone's mind?

I mean, when OC80s became OP80s there was a chorus of forward-thinking people who said that this was only going to prevent a future heroin epidemic. And it did, and now RC fentanyl has WHITE PEOPLE DYING. Sound the alarms, see what we've done?

Will this be what it takes to get comprehensive harm reduction programs started in the United States? Even if that reform is just in the form of the federal gov't relaxing some restrictions so that liberal NE states can put some money into saving the easy lives... I'm not saying there should be a federally-funded InSite in every city, and HMT treatment for anyone who wants it (though that would be wonderful), but let Baltimore, Hartford, Philly, Chicago, NYC, Newark, etc have some leeway as to how they provide for public health.

If the powder you get is 10% 3-methylfentanyl, 90% Heroin, upon opening the bag, you die before you're even done getting your shot ready.

At some point, you have to rely on something. It's the problem with street drugs, it can be anything.
 
I wrote 2 posts trying to educate people but some just think they're above it & won't change their mind. Maybe I will Call the school board. Half the parents don't even know their teens are doing it let alone know what to do if they do find out that their child is addicted. My parents had no fucking clue. To this day(I've havent used heroin in over 5 years) my parents say how they wish they were more educated about the subject because once they found out, everything had a waiting list, none was willing to answer their questions And with heroin it's immediate. They needed help & they needed it right then. I didn't mean Dr's were wrong about the fetynal I meant they were saying how heroin is just hitting the suberbs & it's bs. It's been in the suburbs for at least the past 8-9 years. But like I said they sweep it under the rug. Thanks for you're feedback guys, it's like I wanna check fb
But don't because It'll just work me up because people can be so ignorant. And of course I get a little offended because I was there & it was fucking hell. I did some really fucked up shit, but I think my parents would've never said they'd wish I would die. People DO get better, And teenagers do make mistakes.
 
the reformulation of oxycontin (overlooking its excessive production and distribution to begin with) is probably the biggest reason more people are using heroin now and youre telling me there's people who thought it would STOP addicts from switching to heroin? As if, theyd just be like "oh I cant properly get high off this anymore? Guess Ill just hit the books and become a model citizen..." like theres so many just ignorant ass people about a lot of stuff but drugs are at the top easily.

the wire is one of the most acclaimed shows of the past decade and were sitting here wondering why this shit is always in the news. because its a fucking headline and thats it. people love hearing about the underbelly of society from their comfy living rooms

nobody cares about the guy who uses heroin while he takes care of his ailing grandmother and tries to get some kind of enjoyment out of life.

nobody cares about the kid who blew his knee out playing football at age 15 for life and cant get prescribed strong enough opiates because of his age so he buys dope

nobody cares about the people who dont give a fuck about themselves but have no problem helping others

they just know about the guns, and violence, and the children

except if anyone actually fucking knew fuck about fuck, theyd know that all the negative repercussions of drugs occur because there is no regulation.

Declaring something illegal isnt regulating it, its trying to pretend it doesnt exist and if it does those people need help

and it cracks me up because at the same time you see major companies telling society to "live free" and "just go with it" and "live for the moment" and all that fake bullshit yet when I go buy some dope im the bad guy here all of a sudden? what happened to "just goin with it"?

double standards would be comical if they werent directly making my life harder
 
Sid Vicious’ mom did not kill him. He overdosed on H somewhere in “the village” area of Manhattan. He had been indicted for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. Legend has it that they were fighting and she ran into a knife he was holding. In the movie they go to sleep together at the Chelsea Hotel and he wakes up to her dead in a pool of her blood. He was the one to call police. Even tho they were highly dysfunctional heroin addicts and completely toxic together, in their own sick way they were in love. It’s a great movie ! Sid and Nancy . If you can find it , check it out. It used to be hard to find but I believe it’s more accessible nowadays. cheers

I believe Spanish Flu actually targeted the young and healthy. I don't know why, cytokine storm? Naturally selecting the young, the old and the frail doesn't seem like a good strategy.
