NEWS: Ex-cop tells of drug use

^^^ yes, i would *prefer* them in parliament, but every single person has some chance of making changes, and it's gotta be said that a policeman is more likely to have more effect on the law (even only in civil matters) than an average joe. anyway, you know i'm on the same side as you steve :)

thats what their job entitles them to do. not only enforce the law but be fine examples of it as well.
She should be punished more than anyone else.

Corrupt police officers should get life imprisonment no matter how small the criminal transgression if it is an intentional act of disregarding the law.

I have a few reasons for feeling this way.
Firstly, as a matter of principle.
If you're prepared to lock somebody up (and quite possibly fuck their life up) for breaking the code you work to enforce, then you have no business breaking that code.
When the stakes are this high, hypocrisy is simply inexcusable.

Secondly, this will drastically reduce police corruption.

Thirdly, it will reduce the numbers of police officers, which I support 100%. To combat this, society may come to the conclusion that it must change the laws that are keeping people out of policing, and things like prohibition will take a blow. If not, there'll be less cops to enforce draconian laws like this. It's a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned.
The amount of policing that goes towards violent crime is not that great, and remaining resources will prioritise serious crime anyway, so I don't see there being any bad effects on that level.

And this bit of news actually surprises people??? In my group of friends we have a girl, she's 27 or 28 and comes out with us quite regularly. She usually has a couple of lines of wizz and 1 or 2 pills a night.

Guess what?

Yes she's a cop! And yes she's great fun. You'd be surprised how many cops actually do dabble/use illicit drugs.

Seriously Courts lock people up for life NOT the Police.
The Police are at the bottom end of the food chain and they are humans dude not machines or robots.

Imagine the Jay walking fines everyone would have if they were machines 8o =D

^^^ cops make a decision to enforce the decisions that our courts and judges come up with - though they're little more than the messenger in most cases, they're still implicitly advocating these laws and these decisions.

i agree wholeheartedly with steve. in this case, shoot the messenger.
