NEWS: Daily Telegraph - 13/03/09 'Ecstasy riddled with rat poison, other chemicals '

Source of the heroin myth -> http://www.ecstasydata.org/viewtablet.php?ID=1139

Obviously a one off dodgy job to start the rumor mill.

Why would someone put Prozac, (Fluoxetine), in a pill? What does that potentiate/affect?

Heroin works on the Dopamine neurotransmitter right? Is it something to do with reducing Serotonin uptake to potentiate the H?

I don't know anything about H so I assume I could be totally on the wrong track here.

the papers have gone all out with e reporting today - just waiting for the Courier here in QLD to send out a 'scare article' since it is festival time.

Make sure to keep an eye out for these pills above [warfarin]

I'll echo that warning, particularly in light of a dear friend who died after it was administered in hospital. He'd had a stroke, a bad one, and the reasoning was, warfarin would prevent the formation of additional clots. However, it caused another clot to move, and that was the end of him.

While the risk of bleeding after warfarin administration is normally low, if you are any way affected by related diseases, and/or have additional drugs in your system which affect platelet aggregation (blood thinning) including NSAIDs, and/or are using drugs which significantly increase heart rate and BP, warfarin is certainly something you don't want to be taking IMO, at least without expert advice, and some knowledge of the risks associated. Wafarin also interacts with, and has its metabolism affected by many other drugs, plants, and foods.

The bottom line to this article is; yes, recreationally used drugs have become more dangerous in recent times, but there's no-need to shout-out complete and utter crap when attempting to convey that message. Tell the truth, it might even reach some of those who most need to realise this fact.

Start by attempting to explain whydrugs are more dangerous. Ask what is different today than 2,3, 5 and 10 years ago. Then look at how some policies may have reduced or exacerbated the problem. Present something on what has failed, what has been abandoned before evaluation, and what hasn't yet been tried. Now that would be a sensational news-story, one which would no doubt attract a broad dynamic of reader.

And in other shocking news, people at risk of pulmonary embolism are encouraged to take RAT-POISON.
For some reason instead of calling it rat-poison they refer to it as warfarin. I wonder why that is??

The main article here is just another example of sensationalist media bullshit, written by sheltered little journalists.

It surprises just how many people you meet from all walks of life that are completely ignorant of the drug culture. I mean that is their choice but if these ppl spent even just a little time educating themselves I guarantee you would see a lot less of this tripe appearing in our daily news.

what annoys me more than the bullshit published in this newspaper article is some of the red neck responses that readers on line have published in response. Can people really be so malicious to believe that young people dying because they take a drug is a good thing? I counted about 6 people who thought that rat poison is the solution to the drug problem. Fuck people in this country piss me off sometimes.

This article could have appeared five years ago and been worded pretty much exactly the same. In that time, how many young people have tried drugs for the first time in this country, in particular ecstasy? While the AFP desperately cling on to these scare tactics in the hope they might one day just miraculously start working, Australians will continue to move up the world rankings of ecstasy use per capita. :\

"Manufacturers mix these lethal cocktails because they often induce bleeding in the lining of the stomach in an effort to get the drug into the blood stream faster. "

hahahahaha I haven't heard that one for awhile.

There was a pillreport a while back inwhich a guy found some shards of metal in the pill. The thing is, it wouldn't actually work in the way people imagine anyway.

If "rat poison" were in a pill, it would be Warfarin which is used on humans anyway as an anticoagulant. If it were used I assume the idea would be an increased rate of absorbtion as with the shredded stomache lining idea, and again it wouldn't actually work.

While looking at how many young people have tried drugs/ecstasy for the first time since 5 years ago, you also have to look at how much the population has grown since 5 years ago.

If the population grows, so will the statistics.

FN Media/Government!

I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned here, but some of the white suzuki's that were circulating late last year had tiny shards of glass in them. Saw it for myself, then I'm almost certain I saw it somewhere on here or pillreports.com. Not all of them had it though.

I think they put glass in pills because it cuts the lining of your stomach, therefore more of it is absorbed and the process happens faster.. but ouch is that even worth it? I may be wrong though

or it could be vitamin D which had been found by the presser in their cupboard and used as a bulking agent. Calciferols are mostly harmless to humans but are used commercially as a rodenticide...

This article fails on so many levels. The premise, evidence, rationale, all faulty. It is at the point that it is self-satirizing, just point and laugh.

On the metal in the pills, that was me which found it , was from the green doves in SA, but that was a fair 1 off find id say.. or pretty dam rare.
In this article of fair 'bullshit' they forgot to mention the one thing that is being used in pills these days instead of mdma.
BZP & MCPP!!

This is slightly off-topic but about 6 - 10 mth ago i had a couple of average pills and probably 10 - 15 beers over the night, nothing huge. On my way home i felt sick so i had a spew and yup, full of blood. Not sure what caused it but felt very suss

An underground dance party in Perth last weekend saw one punter hospitalised after consuming one Red Mitsubishi pill, according to second-hand information from a friend, the hospital found 'rat poison' in her system.

has anyone encountered these pills? it might be worth sending them off to one of the more well-equipped HR facilities to get a full analysis done.

Nope and the general consensus on that was that the pill press has been over worked and needs servicing, so the metal probably wasn't placed in the pill on purpose.
