Why in every single one of these articles do you guys always say the same things over and over? your anarchistic views are seen as just that, anti-government anarchistic propaganda...
Thats not to say i don't agree with half of them, but there is no real evidence to show that MDMA is less harmful than booze except for users who havnt died saying they're fine.. but how many of us know a 45+ regular E user? and how many of us know a 45+ regular drinker? heh.
I'm sure with longer sustained use, mdxx related drugs would see far more complications.. a small drinking session once in a few weeks is probably about on par with a pill once every so often...
The point isn't that drugs are always safe, nobody is claiming that bad shit won't happen if you don't use a substance properly, the point is that substances 'can' be safe if used responsibly, which is why we need proper education instead of scare tactics and propaganda, and that making substances illegal only compounds the danger by handing control of them over to the uncontrolled black market, which leads to things like dangerous contaminants and substitutes, OD deaths from questionable purity, etc etc.
To take your example of alcohol, is alcohol bad for you? Hell yeah. It's addictive, horrible for your body and damages your brain if abused in excess. But what would be achieved by making it illegal? People don't stop drinking, it just goes underground, drinkers are forced to mingle with criminals to obtain their booze, the booze itself is unregulated and becomes more dangerous and it leads to all sorts of societal and criminal issues with the black market.
The war on drugs has turned from a failed attempt to protect the population from themselves to a moralistic crusade on drug users. It's been shown time and time again that banning substances only makes them more dangerous (again that example of american prohibition), but people are so fearful and indoctrinated that they continue this absurd farce.
Would society be better off if it was possible to ban drugs completely? Probably. But after 50 years to a century of prohibition drugs are more plentiful and more popular than ever. They've sunk more money than the GDP of many nations into trying to ban drugs and yet pretty much anyone can get their hands on whatever they want with a phone call and a quick drive, it's time to wake the fuck up and be realistic about the situation and about how pointless prohibition is. Even in countries with a death penalty for drug smuggling illegal drugs are still plentiful, there will always be a demand and the market will always find a way to supply that demand, we need to accept that the urge to use drugs will always exist in society and start taking a safe and sensible approach to limitting to harms that are caused.
Now imagine if we could see the same thing happen with MDMA. Instead of turning clubbers into criminals and forcing people to turn to pills with god knows what in them, we could have a clean, pure supply of MDMA. People would know exactly what they're taking every time, widespread education campaigns to teach people the risks of MDMA use and how to be safe, research into how to reduce the damage the drug causes, hell, there's plenty of evidence out there that you can reduce MDMA neurotoxicity with strong antioxidants, what if every time you purchased a pill it came with a course of antioxidants to take with your dose? People wouldn't have to worry about having amphetamines in their pills which compound the damage, and the government could tax sales and put the profit towards harm reduction research and towards substance abuse treatment. Instead of telling kids that you shouldn't take ecstasy because you'll die, then having them assume that because they don't die MDMA is perfectly safe in some perverse 'boy who cried wolf' scenario, you could teach them that if they do take pills they should limit redosing, drink plenty of water, supplement properly and only use once every 6 weeks. Wouldn't that make much more sense? There's a disgusting amount of ignorance out there because nobody tells people anything about drugs except that they're horrible and will destroy your life. Then they smoke that joint or take that pill, and they feel great, so they assume drugs are awesome and perfectly safe.
