Hey all, I’m 42 and a mom of 2 kids. I got sober from H and methadone and IV cocaine at age 23 with AA, and was doing ok until 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with RA and Fibro. It is a severe case and I stopped working in 1.5 years, and I’ve been with pain mgmt for the 3 years since I was diagnosed. But about 3 months ago I started snorted the oxycodone im prescribed (90/mg OxyContin and 40/mg oxycodone per day) and the addict in me just started driving the car. Since then I’ve found a dealer and am doing more oxycodone than prescribed (the snorting started because my tolerance had gone up since I had the same rx for 3 years and it wasn’t covering the pain anymore, and I thought if I snorted it maybe it would cover the pain. Well you see how well that worked out.)
now im spending a lot of money buying extra that I want to go to savings or my kids, plus I know I need to stop this by detoxing fully because I can’t control it.

So im hoping this forum can guide me through a detox on my own, with suggestions on what meds to get from my pain mgmt doc to help with the withdrawal side effects. And how to detox. And then I’d like to stick around and help others.

Thanks for having me!

Hi, welcome to Bluelight :)

I understand that it can be quite tricky finding a balance between managing pain and managing use of pain medications, but with a bit of fine-tuning I believe that you should be able to find a middle ground. I really worry when I hear of people supplementing their scripts with pills purchased from dealers as there are a great deal of counterfeits currently available on the blackmarket, some of them quite dangerous.

I'm far from an expert but the best advice I have is to speak to a doctor about treatment options. Even switching pain meds for a while may be an idea as oxy does seem to be especially fiendish for some.

I see that you've started a thread over in Basic Drug Discussion, hopefully you can get some more useful advice there. Maybe have a bit of a look through some of the threads in Sober Living or The Dark Side as there are many other out there looking for similar answers.

Best of luck.

Welcome :)

I wish you the best of luck. I know the struggles of opiate addiction very well and I know it can be tough especially if you're in pain from medical conditions. Like Kaden_Nite said, there's some good support in Sober Living and The Dark Side and if you ever need to talk with somebody, please don't hesitate to reach out.

<3 :)
