I found this site by accident. But I think it might be right for me. I live in New England and am a journalist. I became an accidental addict to both Norco and Oxycodone after two knee surgeries. Both the pain management doctor and the surgeon told me they would not taper me off these drugs "because I was no longer their patient." I asked for a bottle of pills so I could do it on my own. I took a wild guess and dropped 5 mg per week until they were gone. I had no s/x except for severe sweating. But my real problem is benzos. My ignorant doctor gave me a high dose of Klonopin and didn't bother to tell me it was addictive. I was clueless. I was on it for 10 years. Luckily, I found a very benzo wise pdoc and we are tapering off it at a snail's pace. I lost my job, my husband and my home because of these horrible drugs. Plus I could not drive for 7 years. I had to move back from the Midwest to NE. This has been the most horrific experience of my life. I haven't slept for more than 2-3 hours per night for more than a year. Plus, many other terrible s/x. I wish I could say what I think of the doctor that put me on these pills, but I suspect it's against policy to do so. Stevie Nicks was so right about Klonopin, when she stated that she went into the depths of hell getting off the drug. It is a true nightmare and I am still not done with my tapering, although I went from 10 mg of K down to 1.25 mg. I would like to find the chart that says what is the hardest drug you have come off, but don't know where to find it. I would like to add my two cents. Anyway, I'm happy to be here and hope I can learn more about the nasty drugs out there so I can avoid them. I am also a member of benzobuddies.org and they saved me from insanity, so far at least. But who know what will happen to me with post taper withdrawal effects? I even hate to think of that. I will have to learn to navigate this site, so bear with me. Cheers, Benzogirl.
