avatars are kinda pointless to me
i think it will take some getting used to and it may grow on me, but it feels like they changed it up in order to advertise more.
i feel like its just a big conspiracy to try and get more money from me.:\

It is. Always..

I feel the same about the avatars, although I guess it is kind of interesting to see what people do with them. It took me forever just to find a satisfying start-point avatar, but I think what I came up with is kinda cool.

A bit "Nintendo-ish" though, I have to say.. the whole intro video that played, the avatars, their expressions, and the sounds along with it all, all remind me of Mario, and other "cute" Nintendo characters.

I did find that it made things more seamless. Before, my xbox was studdering on loading the friends list, and whatnot.. and now not so much, it seems.

The top thing so far with it that I like is the 8-person party. It makes certain games, like Far Cry 2, that don't have party systems, much easier to play with friends on. In Farcry 2 before this update, we had to send a message out to all the friends we wanted to join our match, describing what to look for- regarding game-type and map. It would kick you (non-hosting players) out of the match at the end of each one, and it still does, but it's easier just hearing the host say what map it's on now.

For Bad Company I imagine it is making a lot of people happy, since before there were only four-man squads... Now 8 people can all coordinate.

Yeh didnt really care either way, its not bad, but nothin special. Hasnt made my live experiance any better yet

whilst the 3d illusion was far out for about 3 seconds, the avatar thingy is just a shitty version of the wii mii system and the pages are exactly the same so it just looks like a new skin *yawn*

I like it.

Easy access to achievements and you don't need to select each one to read what it is you need to do.
Looks nice and flash. The only downfall, is finding your current download list.. you have to download something else to find it instead of going to marketplace - its on the 'x-box button menu' on the left tab

yeah its starting to grow on me
i like the achievement gimmick you were talking about

I wonder what the new dashboard looks with the default theme.

I still have my GTA theme up, but the default of the old dashboard was dire

I like it, av's are pointless though, more of a marketing demographic feature than something i'll ever use. Looks very very clean/smooth imo.

<3 being able to jump straight to videos/media via the dash button

Marketplace is much, much simpler and easier to locate items
Dashboard feels cleaner
Achievements are easier to see what needs doing
The x-box button, when pressed in-game, displays the control panel much more smoothly and without judder
