I learned about this site from a class I am taking. I have an assignment to write about this site to be graded-LOL.

I am currently in school to get a second certification as a Psych NP after working as a Family NP for 5 years.
Currently, I am suboxone waivered and work in a high-risk community in Massachusetts.

Drugs: Personally I have no experience with using drugs other than an occasional drink after work, but I have learned A LOT since getting waivered.
I'm hoping to learn even more in order to better help my patients.

I really enjoy this site as someone who considers themselves somewhat of a drug enthusiast/addict. Have been on and off as a lurker since 2012 and made an account at some point. The crowd has changed a bit, as has the layout and general vibe when discussing things. Still a great site imo tho.

Welcome dude

One thing I am finding is that is a lot of "stuff" that people are trying to forget, deny, or avoid.
I do at times get overwhelmingly sad when I lose a patient.............

I think a lot of drug use starts out as escapism, be it from emotional pain or physical pain. I use opiates that are prescribed. But I sometimes get additional opiates from other people that have their own prescriptions. I drink too much and take my other prescription drugs in ways that they weren’t prescribed. I know I’m trying to forget about some stressful events that occurred all in the space of just 8 months. I just began seeing a new psychologist on a weekly basis and she has hope that I can get better...

I have hope for you too. I'm sorry for your difficulties but.....
Start each day with a grateful heart. End with thinking of one positive thing every night.

Personally with all my experience with addiction and treatment I believe "spiritual awakening" is a requirement for long term recovery... whatever that means

I am agnostic myself, so in my opinion, spiritual awakening is akin to conquering your own mind and self actualizing your soul. Call me Buddhist.

Those words have obfuscated the duration of the spiritual for me. For a long time I thought an awakening happened overnight. To me it is more of a sustained effort.
