Hi There,
I am new to the group. I am on several pain medications for chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and venous insuffiency. I have a very high tolerance to pain medication and have been on some of the strongest there is. For example Opana 40 mg ER, was my doctor's first choice, it was to be taken twice a day (every 12 hrs) along with Opana 5mg IR every 4-6 hours. It did nothing for my pain. This past Friday my doctor put me on Oxycontin 30 mg ER, and Hydrocodone 325-5mg and Sevella for my fibro. Gonna see how this goes. So far I've had back aches for the last two days. Not good.:( I just want some relief and was wondering what has worked for y'all.
Hope y'all have a great night!!!!

Hi, Welcome to Bluelight ! !

I've had a high tolerance myself to various opiods for a few years, I am not you but I understand on some level, and empathize with anyone with chronic pain. I'm sorry you are suffering. It would be difficult for me to comment though as I went from short 1/2 life to ER releases which of course didn't have a same mechanism of action...

Anyways, switching to another med in the same family will always have some sort of drawback in some areas and benefits in others depending on multiple factors. Also, some withdrawal could happen. I would suggest checking out Other Drugs, Basic Drug Discussion or one of the Opiate Mega threads. Just do a search.

There is also this available which was helpful for me when I joined. --- http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/521747-Chronic-Pain-MEGA-Thread?highlight=chronic+pain+mega.

Best of luck on your journey forward.... Please let me know if I may assist you in anyway (within the BL guidelines) on the site.

Smoky :)
