new to fentanyl

my doc has now put me on fentanyl. i do have some opiate tolerance. i am wondering, is the 50mcg patch going to make me fucked up? because i really don't want that. i just want the pain to go away. i'm kinda nervous about taking it. please reassure me!
 
they dont make 150 mcg/hour patches.. unless there new. but to the op, you'll be fine wearing the patch. abusing it can lead to serious problems though. i can search back through my posts to when i was a fent addict and let me tell you i was at rock fuckin bottom

when used properly, theyre ppretty good for pain
 
If you use it as directed you will be fine. It's a good option for round the clock pain management. If you abuse it, i.e. chewing it and breaking down the time release/matrix then yeah it is extremely powerful. Just pop it on see how you like it and if it's too strong take it off and get the 25mcg.
 
I actually was on the Watson 50mcg patches for quite awhile. Those are the ones with the liquid gel inside the pouch. At the time of getting the patches I already had a extreme opiate tolerance. The patches did not provide me with a "high" unless I put a very hot heating pad on the patch or destroyed the pouch by eating the gel or converting to powder. Fentanyl is no joke........................I do not suggest trying any of the above options as I have OD'd before on Fentanyl. One minute in bathroom brushing teeth and the next laying on the floor waking up 2 hours later. They do help with chronic pain but the drug has to build in your system. This may take 1-2 weeks. You should be fine by just slapping the patch on your arm. Make sure to get the Watson brand as the other brands I have experienced are not worth what you are paying. The delivery system on the Watson gel brand worked best for me.

hey thanks all! its actually working pretty well. gvme1more...i don't use it for recreation at all. i have some serious health issues. i appreciate all the comments!
 
Depending on your tolerance you may get fucked up. What opiate and what dose of it did you get switched over from? Usually the 25ug patches are tried first unless your tolerance is just too high for 25ug's to work.

One thing i noticed was a huge difference in the effectiveness of different brands. I had the ranbaxy gel patches once and they worked great and the next time i was switched to fentanyl i got the ratiopharm non gel patches and they did nothing for the pain and threw me into full blown opiate withdrawals. I was on the same dose of morphine before the switch over both times.

The big advantage of fentanyl or atleast the big advantage i got was total lack of constipation. I got absolutly none while on fentanyl compared to quite abit on morphine.
 
I have never taken fentanyl before. I have a ranbaxy fentanyl matrix patch 75 mcg/hr. I don't have any opiate tolerance. If I put it on and don't have any pain. Will it make me high?....I'm new btw...HI!!:)
 
This is an old thread, but welcome. I am recently new too.

I am on 150µg/h (a 100 & 50) but I have been on morphine, hydrocodone, dilaudid, & opana for almost a decade to deal with spinal problems and severe pain.

I would say that according to the Fentanyl conversion chart, 75µg/h is roughly equivalent to 225-314mg of oral morphine. Textbook hospice administration is to start patients on 5 to 10mg of morphine every 4 hours for chronic pain. You are basically going to take 20-30x that amount. (unless my math skills fail me)

For someone that has never taken opiates, that is a big first step. In my opinion, you are playing way over the edge. Of course it is subjectve. Not knowing your weight, or history to tolerance to medications, it is anyone guess, but it is better to err on the side of caution then end up in the ER or dead.

At the very least, make sure you have someone with you that can call for help if things go terribly wrong. If you start feeling dizzy, or nauseated, take the patch off for a few hours. Never take a chance at falling asleep with it on until you know how it will effect you.

Just be careful.

Otherwise, have a safe trip.

Ive never used Fetanyl but for someone w/o an opiate tolerance, I would be scared putting a Fent patch on, especially with 75mcg/hr. Good luck!
 
75mcg is a lot for somebody without opiate tolerance. The danger of overdosing with fentanyl is very real, I wouldn't do it if I were you.

My advice is don't use fentanyl at all if you don't have any opiate tolerance.

Fentanyl is unlike most other opiates, it is very short acting and some people don't find it very euphoric at all. Please reconsider taking this.
 
I wouldn't put the patch on your skin

If you're looking to get high, the best method it to cut off a small strip of the patch, then apply it to your gums for a short while. I used to do 1/8th of a 50mcg/hr patch for 30 seconds or so at a time, when my tolerance was low. If that doesn't get you high enough, put it back on for another 30 seconds in 10 minutes. Rinse repeat until you're high.

Much easier to gauge the proper dose this way, whereas when you apply the patch you're stuck waiting several hours, and by the time you remove it there's more in your skin still seeping in, making it pretty easy to OD if you aren't careful.

At the time I POSTED ,I had FINALLY!!! found a place I could Q and A on this but not live and NOT really...I was ready to give up..:(.
So now I can elaborate.!!!YIPPIE!! :).
I DO suffer from pain. I am a retired national ballet and choreographer for a popSTAR ..now teach ski and coach kids...bad joints...rrrrggg...PAIN yes!..BUT.. I work with kids...T#3's is all I can have. 30 per mth. Small town!! So...I get Percocet...when I can find..Tops? 15/month.... I know, I know...Now the story gets funny... ;)
Mom is a sweet lady...NOT SO BRIGHT..lol...but sweet. She could see me limping, wimpering..blah blah blah..and said....I'll bring you a pain patch. You won't have to cancel classes..etc...
She takes care of an elderly lady. Quote.."They work for her and I'll bring you one. If they work you can ask your Dr. to prescribe them". AWWW, mom's are sweet huh??
So... She walked in the door to visit. I was working at my table distracted, she peeled opened the package, discarded the wrapper, and almost stuck this THANG on my upper left neck, shoulder area.
WHOAAAA....wait..what are doin'?? What's that?..Oh that's the pain patch, I brought u....I said I wanna see the package..what is it? blah blah blah...well she had to DIG in the garbage...And...I started from there...GOOGLE..'fentanyl matrix patch'.....OMFG!!!!!!!...LMFAO....NOT!!!..but yeah..

It's not worth LIFESTYLE...THEN LIFE...been there...with another substance..NEVER AGAIN!!!...

Thats a fair amount of fentanyl to start on, You should ask your doctor before you start it. Really you should be starting on a lower dose as I had some bad reactions to high amounts especially on certain days eg hot weather. I hope you have somebody to watch over you at night at least see how ya breathing goes. It took me a fair time to get use to it.
