i've been recently prescribed Valium for my social anxiety disorder, but my Doctor told me to take it before bed, how is this suppose to calm me down when i'm in a social place if i'm gonna take it before bed?! should i take it after waking up? or should i stick to what my doc said? why would he tell me to take it before bed, i just don't understand, i like the little "High" feeling it gives me when i'm in a social place. and then he tells me to take it before bed, getting addicted to a Benzo without getting it's benefits, doesn't make sense, Help appreciated :)

you only take it before bed?

did you talk to him about having problems sleeping at all?

take medication as prescribed by doctor.

On a side note you really don't wanna get addicted to benzos. Regardless of your "social anxiety disorder". Unless you are getting panic attacks in a social setting I don't see why you should be prescribed any medication to help you treat a feeling that we all experience. Anxiety is part of life, if I were you I'd learn to just deal with it. Simple deep breaths whenever you are feeling anxious helps take away those "butterflies". I get anxious in social settings too, sometimes it's unbearable but I wouldn't consider that a "disorder". That's simply not a disorder. That's something even the smoothest fellas still deal with when they're chatting up girls.

Taking this drug everyday will suck the soul out of you eventually. These pills are nothing to take lightly.

he Prescribed me Pristiq after lunch and Remeron before bed, but i don't understand why i should take Valium before bed, maybe because of it's long half life?

i get Panick attacks sometimes and i hardly leave home unless im taking something (Meth / Opiates / Benzos etc), not something i get when chatting up with girls, i simply asked why would my doctor tell me to take valium before bed, i told him already i have no problems in sleeping, i just need an answer for my question until my next appointment with my doc next week

So many views and little replies, please just throw your opinions here that would be really helpful and appreciated, thanks in advance!

Maybe he prescribed it at night because some people get insomnia from pristiq. Plus after a while (for me at least) remeron loses it's effectiveness at keeping me asleep. Talk with your doctor and see what he says.

Diazepam has an extremely long half life. IMHO your doctor has started you on this at bedtime to limit daytime drowsiness on commencing. The levels of Diaz will increase over time in your bloodstream & contribute to easing your social anxiety on a broader basis than just popping a Xanax before heading out.

Pls be patient, many who view posts aren't members so can't respond.
