"When we found him dead, he had a little foam on his nose, and some blood too, and the doctor said, 'That must be an overdose of heroin,'" Bernett said. Bernett added that he did not see Morrison take any heroin that night but said the singer was known to sniff the drug because he was afraid of needles.

Okay so they see a little bit of foam and blood automatically they think heroin OD? Couldn't this be any number of things?

it was known that his girlfriend occasionally used heroin, but he detested the drug (publically, anyways). He also didn't like her using it, although he would get it for her and be with her when she used it. I've read various books on Jim Morrison, written by people close with him and written by people who've just compiled some facts and theories, but the leading theory is that he died of an accidental heroin overdose... snorting a substantial amount of what he thought was cocaine (as he was on/off using cocaine then). Also take into consideration the early 70s, heroin quality, and Paris. The movie "The French Connection" was made for a reason. I'm guessing dope was a lot stronger/different than it is now (except for maybe Northern Jersey, Uptown Manhattan, and The Bronx :| ).

What's really weird is that Pamela didn't let anyone close to him see the body. She waited a few days, and buried him. I think only 5-6 people were in attendence; none of the band members, and all they saw was a coffin put into the ground. No one saw a body.

Which also leads people to believe that he is still alive somewhere.

i'm sure he used once or twice from everything i have read, but not regularly. he also locked pamela in a wardrobe and set fire to it.
he was still one of the hottest guys whoever lived.

I hate it when people think that elvis and co are living on an island somewhere.

maybe things get a little crazy and u need a break but you dont disapear for almost 40 years never to be heard from again...hes dead and we will never know the true circumstances. Jim is one of my favorite artists of all time so it sucks to accept but just accept it already.

I heard from someone I know that he accidentally sniffed a big line of heroin thinking it was cocaine, and then laid in the bathtub to die.

He was a fucking rock star of course he died of a heroin overdose FFS this was the end of the 60's, "heart failure at 27" yeah as if.

A 27 year old keeling over from heart failure is mighty suspicious, especially if he was just listening to records in an apartment.

But at this point its all speculation, any evidence is long rotted away.

Id say he did die of heart failure. He drank all fucking day for godsakes and smoked about 4 packs of cigarettes daily. Plus the drummer said that jim was after coughing up blood on a number of occasions plus he caught pneumonia twice. Once before he went to paris and once when he went to paris. That could have contributed to his death as that can kill you all by itself and alcoholics don't have the best immune systems.

So i doubt very much that he died of a heroin overdose. A heroin overdose just makes it seem more glamorous then dying of heart failure due to chugging bottles of whiskey for breakfast and chain smoking.

Yul Brynner, Keith Richards, David Bowie...etc

The list goes on of people who have a made a healthy living out of drug abuse (5 packs a day for the ill-fated King and I star...) and come out fine or died at ripe old ages in their 70's and 80's. Morrison had a pretty healthy childhood apparently with his military schooled parents. And listen to the guitar solos in his music...it's just made for shooting up to, with those 8 minute hooks 8)

Pamela Courson would be the person I would suspect having part in his death. Maybe she injected him when he was passed out. Will will never know the truth we can only speculate, An autopsy could determine his cause of death but I doubt this will ever happen. I could understand him dying from a heart attack if he abused amphetamines

I did a bit of reading when I was 13-16 yrs old on a bunch of my idols....and as I know the story....from books as well from autobiographical hollywood movies. Jim Morrison and his girlfriend were in a hotel somewhere, anyways...eventually Jim Morrison went to the coffee table where there was a bag of white powder. Now Jim Morrison was into Cocaine at that time, he wasn't really at all into Heroin...but I believe his girlfriend was a user of both drugs. So he fixes 2-3 lines of the white powder which he was absolutley sure that it was Cocaine, so he fixed up 2-3 pretty big lines (as opposed to toothpick lines), snorted and died from a heroin overdose. A heroin overdose, not from smoking, not from injecting but from snorting!

At least that is the 'official' story.....in other words it is the most accepted theory....or explication of Jim Morrison's death.

^I wouldn't doubt that.

I don't think Pamela killed him. She died not long after he did.

Jim was adamant about his hatred of heroin. Sure, maybe he used; we'll never know positively. My gut instinct, however, is that Jim Morrison did not die of a heroin overdose - unless someone, for who knows what reason, killed him in the club then tried to cover it up by seeing to it that Jim was taken back to his apartment.

Jim made his DOC's quite clear: alcohol, acid, cocaine.

The fact that so many people remark on Jim's sudden and quite severe weight gain near the end of his life indicates to me that perhaps something was going very wrong with his heart, as sudden and extreme weight gain and retention of fluid can indicate cardiac issues.
