I just changed insurance providers this month and have a question regarding my next refills.
I am currently prescribed two schedule II medications by the same doctor for treatment of ADHD and Treatment-Resistant Depression. From time to time, I take an extra pill or two when needed, so there are times where I run out too early. With my previous provider (as with most), the earliest I could get them filled was after 28 days.
Since I have a new provider, I'm wondering if they would approve the initial filling upon receiving the prescription regardless of amount of days since it was approved by previous provider?
When changing providers, does the new one know or check the dates of past refills or does new coverage treat each initial prescription as if it was just started?
I'm grateful for any input on this!
I know that it is my fault for running out early and is indicative of a problem, I'd just like to hopefully get back on track without having those zombie-like withdrawal days in between.
