New Oxy's SUCK! What to do???

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie, but have been a long time browser and I know there are a lot of very smart people out here. My predicament is this; I'm a disabled vet w/ a really bad back. I relied on oc's for quality of life for several years, now I find them worthless. I get bt meds(30mg oxy) but need a good er med. I'm on opana now and not impressed, have tried msconti, wasn't impressed. Any reccomendations, patch perhaps? Any suggestions would be great, and much appreciated, thank you and have a pain free day!

My doc seems to be as stumped as me! He was an advocate of original oc's, but now he agrees they are awful. He mentioned fentanyl patch or mscontin(which i tried) so not sure what else is out there, any tips would be great. Also considered just taking 30's around the clock, but kinda a pain in ass.

Does anyone have any experience w fentanyl patches, I've had suckers in army when wounded, they were ok. How are they compared to oc's, and how do you work out w patch on? do u take it off during workout?

You may find some info HERE there is a dosage converter somewhere in the directory.

Also, the Search Engine in the Other Drugs forum will most definitely yield a ton of info

Ah, OverDone beat me to it. Thanks!

Yeah, Other Drugs is a one stop shop for drugs other than MDXX, psychedelics or cannabis. You should be able to find some good info there.

:)

Well, had Dr appt today. Was on 3 opana 30mg daily, plus 6-8 15 mg roxi's/day. Wasn't getting relief compared to old regimen of 4 oc 40s/day plus 4 15mg roxi's. So, since I have a good doc who listens and cares about vets, he changed me to 4x40mg opanas / day and 4-6 15mg roxi's / day. He is not fond of fentanyl patch or methadone due to their dangerous results in past, and because they stay in system so long(he knows I enjoy a few drinks every know and then). Pharmacy had to order opanas, as they didn't have 40's in stock so I get them friday, which means I'll tear through roxi's next couple days, lol, but Friday my new regimen will begin. To all of you knowledgable people out there, does this sound like it should make a significant difference, as I desperately need one? Also, as far as oc's go I am referring to old ones b4 Perdue, DEA, and FDA fucked us all over.n Thanks for any insights, and he also told me to call in a week to let him know how I'm doing, as he is willing to re-adjust if needed(I really lucked out with a good, compassionate Dr, and he's my pcp) Thanks again for any input

Hey Battleco, maybe u got some advice for me. Im a former Marine vet and spent 4 yrs in the grunts destroying my back. I got a service connected disability for my back which is pretty bad. The va screwed me over for yrs so I stopped going to them. My civilian docs all want to give me naproxen and flexerall even after I tell them thats what I took while I was still in the Marines to deal with the pain and it didnt do a thing. Maybe its the state of NY but im really having trouble getting the proper meds from any of the civilian docs I see. I do all the stretching and exercises I was taught in physical therapy at the Va and they help, but most days the pain really affects how I live my life. When I come straight out and ask the docs for a strong pain medication they look at me like im retarded. Im just being honest and straight forward with them and they say that they cant indulge some one who portrays drug seeking behavior. " No shit im seeking drugs," I told the last one "Day to day I never know if Im gonna be able to work or lay flat on my living rm floor all day because thats the only position my back doesnt hurt in," I said after that. Even then they seemed to have little interest in helping me out with some strong meds. Any advice? Your Doc sounds great. Maybe I have to move to a far less liberal state where Veterans are respected and the Doctors are from America. If you or anyone else has any helpful advice please let me know. SEMPER FI

Semper Fi Dirty Deeds! Oorah and Hooah, good to meet a fellow vet! OK, I'll do my best! Like you I have a 70% medical disability with my back, probably from excessive jumps(was paratrooper), not to mention all the shit we'd hump for miles on end. I used to hump a saw for two tours, and you know what a bitch those can be when you do it ALL THE TIME. My first piece of advice is never ask for a specific med. They automatically assume your a drug seeker or dealer if you do that(my doc told me this). I also go to civi doc now too, as the VA where I am sucks! God damn them for letting guys like us suffer after the parts of our bodies we sacrificed in the name of democracy for this country!(just my opinion)
I will try and help you as best I can as I totally know where your comin from and we deserve good treatment, I mean Jesus, it's the least they can do for us! Hey they just gave us another 2k for college, hooah! Too bad that just covers some books, lol! O.K. I'm in Boston, I was also a grunt, an 11b(rifleman). And it really does take a toll on the back!
NY is probably very similar to MA, you guys have the oxycontin stigma like us. Have you tried going back to the VA at all? I'm lmfao, the drs here cant speak f'n english either and don't give a shit about vets, I just happened to luck out w a family dr, my dad's and he's a vet too. So my doc appreciates what we do. Sounds to me like you need what I get, a pain management routine. 've also done all the PT, the shots, yoga, massage, and accupunture. I mean wtf do they expect from us. I don't know about you, but even w my insurance through school, and VA benefits; I can't afford to do all that shit all the time! Plus if the drs had it their way it would be like working another full time job just dealing w our backs!
What you ideally want is a long term pain med with a "breakthrough" med. The longterm med is like Oxycontin(but forget it now it's awful, they changed it and it sucks, I'm in middle of big problem myself trying to find replacement for it) And you think docs would appreciate honesty, but I notice private docs think disabled vets all sel their pain meds, I mean really! FUCK THOSE PUSSY FUCKIN COCKSUCKIN FAGGOT MUTHAFUCKERS!!!! After what we did, they could have a little compassion! So, I would get rid of your present doc and find a new one, or a pain clinic(they have docs that just deal w pain). Tell them you've done it all PT, etc, and that OTC pain meds dont work or the stuff they've given you! If you find even a decent doc, he should at least start u on vicodin, and see if it helps. It probably wont be enuff, so continually complain about the pain, tell them you cant sleep at night, that the pain depresses you, and your quality of life sucks. Make sure you speak up, but be respectful when you do, docs all have big EGOS so you need to be kinda cool. They should continue to raise your meds a little at atime, and keep telling them it doesnt help enuff. You probably want(IMO) 15-30mg oxycodones, they work pretty good as far as what's out there now. And try out some extended release pills, like MSCONTIN, fentanyl patch(maybe u had lollipops in corp?), that's pretty strong med, or u might try new oxycontin, there are some people it works for. But I can tell u r getting shit treatment, esp. for a vet! Write me back w more details, and tell me all meds you've tried, and when you can get an appointment, and I'm pretty sure I can help you get on your way to relief! Semper Fi brother! Jackson

Oh and DD, I forgot couple things; go online and research opiod therapy. You'll see if used properly it IS THE SAFEST WAY TO TREAT PSAIN! Stuff like advil, naproxen, and tylenol is VERY UNHEALTHY when you need to use it regularly! Print out some of the good stuff you can find for next appointment, and tell them"I'd rather risk addiction than have to live the rest of my life w the terrible pain I'm in!" Say things like that, after all, it's your body and life and you should have a say in how you are treated!

And, I'm glad to help any fellow vet! So keep me posted, send me more info if you have chance, and I'll do my best to help you w strategy. I've been dealing w this shit for years, so I've gotten to know what the docs are like, what to say, and how to go about getting the proper help. Semper Fi, J

AND,lol, I act grew up in Bay Ridge, and am also huge Giants and Yanks fan brother! Thanks 4 friend request

Well...so far I notice that opanas are ok. They are strong, but I still prefer my original oc's. They just seemed perfect, as far as pain relief and fewest side effects, and being able to jam one down when pain was absolutely horrific and the instant relief they would then provide. The opanas do a pretty good job at controlling pain, but I find I am now needing more of my bt roxys as well, which I did not require with my ocs, so the jury is still out. I also read on Endo website that it can take some time (couple weeks+) for the proper amount of med to build up in the blood, and this was never the case w ocs. So I am hoping each day gets a little easier. Unfortunately, although I continually read how good opanas are when insulfated, for some reason I am just not sharing this opinion. I am left with giant amounts of gel in nasal cavity and not much relief, esp not instant. So, I really hope at this point that Purdue will be forced to go back to old formula, as no one seems to be happy w new ones, but I'm guessing that is just wishful thinking. Best wishes to all.
