Hi everyone!

I am new here. This is my first post. Here is what happened.

Basically, I had a kidney stone this week. The pain was unbearable. At the hospital, they give me an injection of morphine, and I really enjoyed it. After about 30 minutes, I didn't feel any pain at all anymore, and I even felt happy. I was happy of being in the hospital. I didn't know that morphine was that strong. This was my first time using it. I really enjoyed the effect.

The same day, I was released, but with a prescription for a few meds, including MS IR (morphine). I got a bottle of 5mg pills *30. So that's 150 mg. I think that the 5mg pills are the smallest doses for MS IR, so they are not very strong. I was told to take 1 or 2 pill every 4 hours if I was in pain. The thing is, I didn't feel any pain and didn't take any morphine, and my kidney stone came out a few days ago.

Now I am cured, and I have a full bottle of morphine. So I am like, why not get high out of this? The first time I took 10 mg. I hardly felt anything. Right now, I am on 15 mg. I feel the effects a little, but not that much. My pupils are very small tough.

I am not really a habitual drug user. I smoked a lot of pot in my youth, but I stoppped in my early 20s because I was getting too paranoid and also I wanted to protect my lungs. I pretty much never take drugs now. I drink alcohol maybe twice a month. I assume morphine pills are not that bad for my health.

I wonder what dose I should take next time, without falling asleep or having some sort of bad trip. I am new to morphine. I am a 32 years old male, in good shape. I found this website and I would like to have some opinions on this. Thanks!

The reason to not get high on it is because opioids are very addictive and cause physical dependence if you take them too often, so hopefully you don't have any way to get any more opioids, they are very insidious. Personally I would just save them for sometimes you are in pain and can't get a prescription of opioids.

But if you want to use them recreationally, it's really impossible to say what a safe dose would be that isn't going to make you sick. Oral morphine is definitely not as strong or as pleasant as injected morphine. Some people find it not very euphoric, and it can cause a lot of nausea. All you can really do is start with a low dose and gradually increase it. For me I find it takes quite a while to kick in, so it can be easy to take more because you think it's not doing anything and end up taking too much.

We can't suggest recreational doses as we are a harm reduction forum and everyone is different, you will just have to find out with careful experimentation. How long ago did you take the 15mg?

It sounds kind of bad that opiates made such an impression to you, I started using them recreationally too after hospital administration (never used opiates in my life) but it took quite a few years to develop an addiction, but eventually that's what I did.

So that was a warning. It is true that when administered seldom the opiates are very safe and do not harm you except if you overdose. Chronic use is a different story of course. Anyway, I would start with 20-30 mgs of oral morphine with no tolerance. You should feel pretty good effects even that is still a light dose and is safe without other CNS depressants around.

Maybe you are right about the injected morphine being better... I took the 15 mg maybe 2 hours before making this thread. I don't think I felt any euphoric effect at all. It just reduced pain, but I didn't even have pain to start with.

By the way, I don't have any morphine after this bottle, so I am not going to be addicted. I can't get more anyway and I am not interested in being addicted to drugs.

IMO, if there was such a thing as pharmaceutical-grade heroin, administered by licensed professionals, this is something I would like to try. However, I am a way too scared to ever try the heroin from the streets. You basically have no idea what is in it and I would never trust that. But if it was made by legit pharmaceutical companies instead, I would give it a shot.

Actually there is, but it is very rarely if ever seen on the black market. It is used in hospitals in some countries, and at least in the UK there is heroin maintenance treatment for addicts.

The uncertainty of street heroin is the reason I never wanted to try heroin either and am quite happy with that decision. I am not sure if I would try it even if it was pharmaceutical grade as I think it just way too addictive and in general opiates give you nothing but trouble when used recreationally, mainly because they are just too addictive both physically and menthally.

Check out the thread I started about 4 years ago called " Recreational dose for morphine sulfate"

How/why did you think it reduced pain if you had no pain to start with?

Personally I don't find oral morphine very euphoric, but it would not be in the interest of HR to suggest you take it in some other way. If you haven't taken any morphine since yesterday you can probably try 20-30mg like cook said, it might make you sick though. If that doesn't do anything for you I would just give up and save it for sometime you are in pain.

By the way, I don't have any morphine after this bottle, so I am not going to be addicted. I can't get more anyway and I am not interested in being addicted to drugs.
No one is "interested" in getting addicted or thinks it will happen to them! But if it's impossible for you to get any other opioids of any kind then that can prevent addiction. But I have seen people in your situation who get that IV morphine in the hospital, like it, and then start seeking out other opioids to try, which leads down a bad path.

I can't get more anyway and I am not interested in being addicted to drugs.

Can't say I've ever met anyone who was interested in getting addicted to drugs...that's not how it works. I can only advise you to be careful. I got addicted to oxycodone because they were prescribed to me following an accident. I figured I'd be fine since same, I wouldn't be able to go over my script but I quickly found ways to get around that, trust me. And then that led to heroin blablabla.
Don't underestimate how detrimental this could be to you. Once you're done with this bottle, please don't find ways of justifying getting more.
As for dosages, it's really impossible to say but if you barely felt anything from 15mg take maybe just a bit more and then continue to take a little more until you get the desired effects (but don't expect effects to come on immediately! Wait like an hour, and then take a LITTLE more - that's very important to prevent overdose).

Ok tonight I plan to do another hit... I will try 20 mg. I am tempted about using 25 mg, but what if it's too much? Anyone knows what amounts it takes for being in danger? Hopefully I will feel something this time.

Its different for every single human being man.. im serious, but since you asked ill have a go. If 15 mg wasnt too pronounced, personally i would take 30 mg. Its impossible to say what is safe and what will kill but im pretty sure you will just feel bliss from 30 mg and at worst puke a little but probably not. Do realize that it can kill you though, especially and i mean it, when combined with any other CNS depressant (alcohol, opioids, benzos, etc.) so definatley dont take any in combination with the morphine.

Bah I just took 20 mgs:) I want to play safe. If I don't feel anything, I'll ask myself questions. I'll update this later this night.

Once again, I hardly felt anything. Is this normal? I felt somewhat good, but that's it. It didn't really feel like a "high". I played video games and for some reason I was very good. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not. I don't know if I should increase the dose for the next time or not.

I think the problem might be that you were given injected morphine in the hospital which is a very different ball game than taking it orally, even with equivalent doses. You aren't going to get there taking it orally. Anyway you can take 30-40mgs next time, the worst thing that could happen is that you'll need to puke. And it is OK to redose (5-10mg) after 1 hour if you aren't satisfied, if you take it on empty stomach (which you should do in the first place), the peak effect is felt in about 1 hrs.

Same deal for me. Loved my drugs but always stayed away from heroin due to the death of one of my closest friends when we were 18. I suffered from a stubborn kidney stone from December til mid April when they finally did surgery. I was hospitalised 5 or six times & was on 10mg Oxycontin ER x 3 & Oxynorm 5mg x 4 per day. Not huge doses but enough to be suitably smashed every night as I rarely took my daytime doses so I could drive to work as well as getting supplies from the hospital & GP.

After 4 months my GP cut me off with enough medicine to last until I went in for surgery. He still gives me benzos when I ask so he did the right thing I suppose. After having an instrument the size of a AAA battery shoved up my cock & they pulled the stone. Post surgery I was in agony & was given a injection of morphine & told to take codeine for my pain. I went home & my ex took care of me & took my last couple oxy. The next day I woke up in pain feeling sick & that lasted a week or so.

Not the biggest habit by any stretch (40-50mg a night & 10 most mornings) but it has set off triggers in me which are driving be back down a dark path. Also I have found opiate family highs to be somewhat subtle & you learn what to look for. Yes you can have mind blowing experiences at higher doses but be careful & enjoy it while it lasts. Sorry for going off topic a bit but I only responded to this because I am 33 & had a very similar experience. You would know the fear I lived in daily that the dull pain would turn into a full blown attack & back to hospital for more morphine injections & a take home pack of Oxy.

That is what has happened to me. I live to get the warm glow flowing through my body & think about it obsessively. I show restraint (mostly CWE & PST) but know as an addict my addictions always begin manifesting through obsessive compulsive thought patterns.

Hey, I think 30 mg was pretty good. I felt something and it was pretty good. It was pleasant. That's kind of sad that I don't have more morphine though. Maybe it's better this way so I don't get an addiction. I have 75 mgs left I think. 2 more trips maybe? One thing though, is that I am scared shitless of overdoses, but from what I have gathered online, 50 mgs and under is not really dangerous, and apparently there are people who take more than that to treat pain, so I guess I am ok.

It's not that easy to overdose on oral opiates alone, you will run to unpleasant side effects long before you truly overdose. I never have felt even slight respiratory depression when I've taken higher doses than I usually used (100mg oral IR morphine, I used to use around 40mgs). You have safety nets such as vomitting when you take it orally, but of course still it wise to start low and work your way up.

I agree with others in this thread that you should enjoy the pills you have and then stop thinking about getting more. Opiates are insidious and addiction happens to the unprepared. Also consider that the more often you do opiates, the less native pain control your body will have if you ever have another medical problem while you are addicted.
