Hello all! my buddy Johnathan came up with a wonderfully effective method for making one's own homemade "oral" syringe!
Here's how it's done.
_Materials:
__1 Straw (big red ones work really well, and appear to be 2 ml+).
__1-4 Cigarette filters, with paper removed.
__1 Cup of water.
__1 Guitar string and or another firm but flexible ram rod type piece of equipment
__1 Lighter
_Build Pt. 1:
__1. Take the required number of cigarette filters and slide them onto the guitar string (this took some trial and error to find the right number of filters, ___________for him with the red straw he has, it took four, to be perfectly sealed. In order to make this fit, he had to cut off the end of the four filters when _______they were fully assembled) This forms the stopper, used to create a vacuum.
__2. Make a bend in the guitar string that is 1.5-2 times the length of one cigarette filter.
__3. Push one, or two of the filters depending on straw, past the bend, then keep none, one, or two (depending on the gauge of the straw and filters) on the ____other side, closer to the end than the bend.
__4. Completely fold over the bend and push the filters towards the resultant crease.
__5. Rub the cigarette filters against each other until they are at least a very very slight amount entwined, or enough fuzz that when wetted, this fuzz can ______be wrapped around the filters.
__6. Wet the filters, and try to make them as compact, and unified as possible, forming your stopper.
__7. Insert beginning of filter into straw and test if it fits. If not, readjust, re-roll/rub, and/or cut the filter (now a stopper) so that it fits all the way in and ______can move up and down the straw VERY snuggly. HE emphasized this point: VERY SNUGGLY. The only point of snugness that is too far, is when it is ______way too hard to push the stopper to the end. Apparently, he likes to do this before he uses the lighter to make the tip at the end of the syringe, for a few reasons.
_Testing:
__1. Push the filter(s) down the length of the straw until you come to the end, then place the end into the water, and pull up on the guitar string, relatively ____slowly, you should see water being pulled up the straw, if not, check for holes, or cracks in straw, and/or readjust filter/stopper.
__2. Take the straw out of the water, and make sure that it does not drip out of the end. If a few drops fall, this is no big deal, and almost certainly will not i____be an issue by the end of the build. If more than that comes out, and/ or it slowly drips out without eventually stopping before being empty, check for ____!flaws/faults and/or remake/fix stopper.
_Build Pt. 2:
__1. Drain the straw completely., make sure it's dry.
__2. Use a lighter to lightly melt the plastic of the straw on the end that will be *inserted*, and use fingers (or a table or something if you're a pussy) to ____!push the melted plastic into a funnel shape at the end. This also may take some trial and error.
When end is finished, try using straw again, by putting in water and drawing up, see if it works, make sure it doesn't leak, at this point it really shouldn't at all, especially if the tip is made right, and is reasonably narrow at the mouth.
It should.
Enjoy!
