New Injection site pain

Ok, so a few minutes ago I shot an 30 mg OC =D in my main injection site and then went back to get up the rest of it within the cotton filter. I know that it's not really to safe to do cotton shots since it makes the possibility for cotton fever greater but when I did it I shot it into my forarm about 2 inches below and about a 1/2 inch to left of my main-line and it hurt like shit.... :! Is this normal for it to hurt when you shoot into a totally new site? If not, what do any of you guys think it could be that caused the pain...? I about 99% positive that I didn't get any particles in the syringe and granted the needle I used had been used a couple times before, due to the fact that I haven't been able to get down to the hood to buy a couple from the lady who sells them... I know it's a big no-no to reuse so I do expect some criticism for that, but please let me know what you guys think about the question I asked. Thanks homies.

It's not normal for a new vein to hurt, but maybe it was a smaller vein than you're used to using. Those can be painful from the pressure pushing the vein out. Also could be due to the point being dull. Or maybe you missed, at least partially. Sometimes it isn't obvious with a rinse because you're mostly injecting water. Certainly it isn't cotton fever, that comes from letting the cotton set long enough to grow bacteria. And it doesn't hurt, it makes you sick. Just guesses, keep an eye on the site for swelling or redness.

^^agreed... i'm no doctor but i would suggest if theres swelling at injection site, use some medical 70%proof alcohol (or vodka or high proof alcohol if you have no medical stuff) apply to injection site for as long as possible on a piece of cotton or toilet paper or whatever, the swelling and pain should go down... if the area turns and stays red or any other color, you should seek medical help... if its a bit sore a bit red, but starts gradually feeling better (probably after over an hour) then you should be ok
