Hello! New here, I have used this site many times in the past and finally decided to make an account.
I have been sober 9 months from being a heavy opiate user for about 3 years. I have been on suboxone maintanence but hopefully will be coming off after my VA appointment Friday. Can?t stand the constipation and nausea anymore. Glad to be where have felt pretty alone since retiring from the military waiting for my transition care. I was going to NA but they became a very self destructive group and most of the sponsors relapsed and got arrested. So now I am here, lol. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Hey PinkWalrus Congrats on the 9 months ! I tried NA back in the 70's and eventually did it on my own for similar reasons. It's not a path for everyone for sure, much easier if you have some kinda support.

Oh, and BTW Welcome to Bluelight ! There's plenty of good folks around to talk to when you need to.

Welcome to Bluelight :)

I'm recovery as well and I know NA very well. I actually found more recovery in AA even though I'm not an alcoholic. I'm a heroin addict. 10+ years of heavy use. There's some good places here if you want to talk about sobriety/recovery, Sober Living and The Dark Side.. Check those places out, I think you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the welcome! I will definitely check out those sections. I did try AA because that’s in the room before NA however that group has some high pedestals with no ladders, lol. Honestly I have just been trying to focus on new hobbies and interests, I think the VA has counseling groups for addicts I’ll get more info this week.
