Hello everyone!

I am a single mom of 2 kids and I am trying to kick my opiate addiction. I have a decent job and enjoy decorating and self renovating my house. I love playing games- board and video games with my kids. We have a small zoo, 2 dogs, a cat, a rat and a koi pond with 9 fish. I recently kicked out my boyfriend of 6 years and want a fresh start. I remember what it feels like to be opiate free and I want that clear minded feeling back. When I go to my next appt i am going to tell my dr. that i don't want that script anymore and opt instead for ibuprofen 800.

Oh, and did i mention I have to go to school orientation for the kids and I am on 2nd day w/d?? Yeah, wish me luck...I need it.

Hi escapingwonderland. I like your username. :) You should check out The Dark Side. There's lots of supportive and compassionate people there that will help you. Also, be sure to post pics of your zoo in the pet thread there. Bluelight is full of animal lovers. I hope to see you posting more. :)

All the best. <3 <3

Thank you, I have been an avid Alice in Wonderland collector/fan for about 22 years or so now. I have been checking out the DS and saw the animal thread. There are so many threads on here that I might enjoy/could relate to. Thanks for the post!

Welcome - I am a newbie, as well. I lurked bluelight for several years, and have found so much useful information here. I just recently decided to become a member. I'm sure you will find help here. As a nurse, I am compelled to warn you that going off opiates cold-turkey isn't good for you; it's best to taper your dosage over time. I am a long term pain management patient, and I have found that Clonidine (a blood pressure med) sometimes helps to ease withdrawals, if for some reason I run out of my pain medication before my next prescription is due. I am prescribed Clonidine to help with sleep - but after some research, I learned about its use to help relieve withdrawal symptoms. You should definitely talk with your doctor and let him/her know you want to stop taking opiates, and collaboratively figure out a strategy to kick them. I have several legitimate diagnoses that require pain medication, but if for some reason I needed to stop taking my pain meds, I think I could easily get off them by tapering my dosage over time, along with taking the clonidine and an anti-depressant. I hope the forums serve you as well as they have myself, and you get some quality suggestions and support here. Best wishes!

Thank you. I have noticed yesterday my pupils where very small and someone told me my blood pressure might be high. I don't know if it was true, but tried to relax and drank some chamomile tea and over a little bit of time they were more normal.
