Hey. Thought I'd share one of my fave movies. It is called "Never Get Outta the Boat" and it is about people living in a halfway house, trying to recover from addiction.

We start in the intro credits seeing the soon to be final stage of addiction, of various kinds... Just that intro is brutal, because it is so real. Then we meet the guys in the recovery house, and understand what they have to deal with.

I testify that what is in this movie is the honest truth. All of it happens every day. In the halfway house you dont know about, just around the corner.

This is a great, powerful movie.

I thought this was gonna be a thread about Apocalypse Now.

It is a refrence to Apocalyse Now... It is stated in the movie. That if you take the step off the boat, you have to go all the way. Just like addiction, once you take that step into that world, you are commited to it, all the way.

One of the key characters in the movie is watching A.N. and they show the scene where Sheen says "never get outa the boat" and the addict explains it. As an A.N. fan, I got chills the first time I saw that bit.

As far as the dark side of drugs go, yeah my fave movie. Its also a pretty hopefull story too. It is a rough journey though this 90mins. I know a lot of people that can't watch it because it brings back to many memories or brings up desire to use. I watched it in rehab, and lots of people left the room, during the injecting and smoking parts, and actually got really angry with the nurses that it was even being played. It got taken out of the library after one viewing, heh.
