Neurontin for anxiety????

Can someone tell me if neurontin is better then Benzos for anxiety?? I was on Benzos for 11 years.

I strongly doubt its better but it can surely be used as an anxiolytic. Benzos are the most potent anxiolytic for me.

If you've been on Benzos for eleven years I'd suggest you use Gabapentin (Neurontin) instead. It's nearly impossible to overdose on. I've taken heroic doses as high as 21 grams at once and I was seeing geometric patterns of color and I felt totally relaxed, not to say I suggest you take that much. Try taking a gram of it. Benzos can be dangerous. When you said 11 years I'm assuming you've abused them at some point.

Gabapentin, unlike benzos, does not have withdrawals as far as I know. Benzos have withdrawals which include seizures. For that reason alone, I might consider Gabapentin. In my opinion, gabapentin is more recreational than benzos anyways. As far as effectiveness, I doubt gabapentin can match benzos but it is still nothing to scoff at. It really all depends on the severity of your anxiety. This would be a wonderful question to ask a doctor, as he or she best knows your medical history and can make a better recommendation.

^that is definitely not true... I've had some pretty mild, but very real physical WD's from Gabapentin, like muscle spasms, insomnia, and nausea.
