Naive to the joy, and relucant of the idea of the neti pot, I had never tried using one until about one week ago.

Well Ive come to report that it literally changed my life. If you've never tried one, I urge you, strongly, to give it the old college try. If you relax, do it right, and slow... My god. I just had the most amazing neti, and it was on par with a good orgasm. I CAN BREATHE!!!!!!!!! ahhhh!!!!!! praise jahhhh!!! i am a new woman! I can smell all the smells!

Neti pot is a thing looks like a small tea kettle, you stick the spout in one nostril and pour salt water and maybe other things through your sinuses to rinse em out. They're very nice, excellent if you have allergies/sinus issues/put things up your nose.

^beat me to it :p

its like a sinus cleanse thing im pretty sure

you fill it with a saline solution and take it in through one nostril and then let it out the other

then for a few hours you get cleared sinuses,

i spose its good for a cold / hay fever, it never gave me pleasure or helped me long term though

yeah I found it to be a quick fix for the next half-hourish but it usually doesnt work miracles. If you have a hard time breathing through your nose the best advice to follow is to cut back on smoking and increase aerobic exercise. And don't put anything else up there haha thats what was killing me.

it almost feels like when you are in a hot shower and get the steam into your nose real good. It just hydrates the nasal membrane and the saline solution is supposed to remove any gunk (really not sure what else to call it besides snot maybe) out of your nose and into the sink.

Like I said, it is nice for the immediate feeling of clearness but it was always temporary for me, no more than 45 minutes at best id say

I guess it depends on what you are using it for

lol image if someone done it like every hour or half hour,in middle of the streets,in rave or anywhere! :D

They def work but i hate the feeling of ssaline running through my nostrils. My mom got me one like a decade ago when i was having bad allergy and sinus problems. Only thing that sucks is if you are too congested the water runs out the entry side and doesnt pass through the nose.. for anyone with allergies and sinus issues its worth a try. Everyone tells me youll get used to it, maybe so, but that feeling makes me cringe lol. Glad its working for you tho, my mom loves hers. Plus i think it helps reduce the number of colds and such you get because you are basically rinsing out their hiding place with mild salt water.

The trick I found is to breathe slowly and kind of exaggerated through your mouth before you even put the thing in your nose, then concentrate on continuing to breathe through your mouth, and just let it feel weird for a second. Relax your face muscles, don't tense up and fight the weird feeling. If the water can't pass through the clogged sinus, just do it a few times and exhale vigorously in between each pour. It will get through eventually. And my god when it does..... ahhhh! I do it over the kitchen sink, so I have plenty of room to do my thing. My bathroom sink is tiny.

I was gushing (no pun intended) about this to my bf last night and he said that you shouldn't be doing it more than twice a day. Ive been sick with a cold for the past week or so, and Ive been doing it a couple times a day. I'll probably just do it once in the morning and once before bed after I get better though. Overuse can damage the cilia inside your nostrils and possibly cause your body to produce more snot than usual.

For someone that gets sinus headaches fairly regularly, this is a godsend. No more taking phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine to clear my sinuses! And it feels great to go to bed with a clear nose.

be careful with using tap water, especially if you are in third world countries... using disease infested water gives bacteria/virus a straight shot at your brain.

yeah I didnt want to ruin any parades by mentioning that but I remember reading about it before I bought one

It's a really really small chance, but enough to be like ehhhhhhhhh maybe not

Yea the other good thing about as netti pot as said above, no more nasal sprays that have rebound effects soooo bad its like having cement in your nasal passages. Worth feeling ever. Esp when you spray and all this goo come out lol ewwww

DON'T FUCKING USE TAP WATER...GOT DAMMIT!!

I used tap water in my saline bottle to clear pills out of my nose..shortly after i googled "is it safe to use tap water for nasal irrigation".

I did not like what i saw, and nearly had a terrible panic attack.

I did that 2 days ago and symptoms of PAM don't usually appear untill 3+ days.

Needless to say, i'm scared shitless, if anybody knows a thing or two about N. Fowleri or other intranasal water-borne illness please see my thread in the same Healthy Living thread titled, "Am i going to die???":

Don't use if you possibly have a sinus infection as it can push infectious shit to your ears. I did this and ended up with an ear infection that eventually ruptured my ear drum. Otherwise it works wonders for allergy congestion.

r u allright by now?
i responded in your thread.
Why havent you seen a Dr yet if you're still concerned about tap water? Ive done my diy saline solution a few times now with tap water and Im not sick 1 week later.

I use the directions on the package it came in, which says warm tap water with a pinch of salt (provided in the kit) dissolved into it. Of course you must sterilize your neti pot with boiling water and isopropyl alcohol before use. I've heard there's a risk of infection as well, but I figure as long as you follow these basic instructions your chances are nil.

is there benefits when I dont have full nose?

to clean out dirt/pollen/pollution from the nasal passage. Some people do it every morning or night as part of their routine. It's also commonly done immediately before practicing yoga, so that the nasal passageways are completely open and unobstructed for breathing.

When I had really bad allergies from pollen a week ago I tried a device that's like a Neti pot to clear out your sinuses and I didn't like how it made me feel like being waterboarded. :\ I'll just stick to using saline spray.
