^ Trips can go bad to varying degrees. I've had maybe two through-and-through sour trips, and they weren't any fun (five or six hours of tension and anxiety sums it up) - but I've never had any experience on a psychedelic that would nearly qualify as the "worst thing ever", regardless of my life-long tendency toward high anxiety. That label seems to be a bit of a needless scare.
Sure, under the right (wrong?) conditions, LSD can be a living nightmare - but if you're a responsible psychonaut, you can easily avoid such disasters. Comfortable set and setting is key.
Aside from the obvious requirement of a suitable set & setting, I've found that a trip is almost guaranteed to be constructive if you're well rested. It seems like sleep has become of secondary importance in contemporary culture, and clearly, it's tempting make a habit of sacrificing a couple hours of sleep per night for the extra time you get in return. Nothing has illuminated the harm in this self-destructive practice to me more than psychedelics. If you respect your body and mind by maintaining a healthy sleep schedule (and diet) for a week, and drop acid over the weekend, you will be generously rewarded. %) Likewise, drenching a sleep-deprived brain with LSD is about as good as flushing your tabs down the toilet.
That, and don't drop if you have even a trace of a doubt that you're in ideal tripping conditions.
Really, you'll be fine, though. As they say, the number one cause of a bad trip is fretting about a bad trip!
