Hey guys,

How long will a needle mark remain on the skin? Assume the worst case scenario- syringe with used (dull) needle. What is the maximum possible time the puncture 'hole' will be visible on the skin?

Also, will a dull needle leave a hole on the skin similar to a bug bite hole?

Guys this is really important for me. Please.

Thanks in advance.

give it a week to be safe.. to speed up healing put some tea tree oil on it 24hrs after the shot. it will speed up healing greatly.

if it's important i assume you are taking a risk by doing it (like you're not supposed to be and if you get caught there are consequences?) if that's the case, it's not worth it.

If you're worried about anyone seeing it just say you had blood work done! Or gave blood, that needle is huge!

I would suggest you switch to a small gauge needle; what size are you currectly using I use/used a 31 gauge, as I could not acquire a 32 gauge at my local CVS OR Wallgreens.

I rarely had issues with tracks, but when I did, I found it best to use a natural, hypo-allergenic, vitamin E-infused lotion on the tracks.
Hopefully you know some basics about IVing; rotate sites, use a fresh spike, etc.
Using a dull needle is not ideal for anyone, obviously. Try your best to avoid it at all costs.

Honestly, if you used a smaller size gauge spike, the mark should be gone in no time if you treat the spot well. I hope you didn't use a huge size..sometimes those will stay with you for a while.

There is only one place I could find 32 and 33 gauge needles, and they were pretty expensive. As well they were each 1/2" long. 8o and they were luer lock tips.

How many times do you inject? If you already have track marks, they'll be there a while.

Using some triple antibiotic ointment goes a long way.

Guys , thank you for your replies.

Actually to be frank. I passed out drunk on the beach around a month back. Today (exactly after 36 days) I noticed a tiny hole on my forearm. I don't know if it appeared suddenly or it was there all along.

There were many people shooting up on the beach that day. Now, I was wondering if somebody had injected me with something. I was considering the odds.

I was looking for info as you guys knew about needles so well. So guys, please help me.

The hole was tiny. But it was a hole. Could it have been a injection hole? Do needles leave noticeable pin holes on the skin. I thought they leave some scar.
And are there any chances that the hole be visible after 30 days after injection? The needle might have been dull and might have been amateur work.

It's incredibly easy to have an IV mark from a single IV.

I'd never pass out drunk around people IVing drugs ever again. Just FYI that isn't a good idea in my experience. ;)

If you don't remember what happened, it would also be wise to get STD/HIV testing done in the future.

yeah, but would a needle leave a tiny hole on the skin. And would that hole remain on the skin for over a month?

Yes, a needle (ones that IV drug users do regularly use) would leave a hole on the skin, or a mark at the least. Only 31 or above gauges don't really leave tracks for one time use.

If it's a used needle, yeah, it could last for over a month - easily. I don't sit around using used needles anymore dude, I only use a new one every time, so I don't know how to best answer your question.

Ok i have a couple of tips for you. WHen i was still married my wife and I used to shoot heroin and coke. When she went to work, she would user a concealer from the makeup department at a department store. It was kind of expensive, but applied correctly, and assuming you get the right color to match your skin tone, it hides track marks 100% .
Also, you would wear long sleeves, or use band aids.

Try Arnica gel, you can find it at homeopathic and other alternative medicine shops. Maybe even a regular pharmacy. I never believed anything could heal skin marks quickly. This stuff applied several times a day will fade bruises in a few days to a week, when they normally would have taken a few weeks to completely fade. I've seen bruises start to seriously fade in 24 hours using this stuff. It also helps heal wounds quickly. Try it, you'll likely be very impressed. They make a pill of it too for muscle weakness, quicker exercise recovery, etc... Use the gel for your skin issues.
