Hey all,
I'm a metal head at heart, but recently I stumbled on a guy/group that is electronic. I have no idea what's it's called or what genre of electronic music it would fall under. The dude's name is Nanotek. I've seen blurbs about it being drum n bass, sickstep, dubstep...etc.
I absolutely love what I've heard from this guy and would love to find more of this style of music but I don't know what it is. Any input would be great on this, as I love what I've been hearing.

This is the first thing I heard form him...

And this appears to be his YouTube home page...

I love the dark, ambient, heavy, evil sounding stuff. Suggestions?

I think the sub-genres of Drum & Bass that you are looking for neurofunk and techstep. Neurofunk is essentially a more modern version of techstep.

Here is some stuff you might want to check out:
Dom & Roland - Imagination
Dom & Roland - Deckards Theme
Dom & Roland - Through The Looking Glass
Ed Rush & Optical – The Creeps

Black Sun Empire - Arrakis
Noisia - Block Control
Noisia – End Game / Unveil

I think that should get you started and give us a better idea of what kinda of techstep/neurofunk you might like. IMO, new school neurofunk and such tends to have a different vibe to old skul techstep.

Nice, thanks for those links. Dom & Roland are pretty close to what I'm looking for. I also stumbled across this remix of one of my favorite metal bands that's been remixed with some dubstep. Listen to the drum beat and how slow the beat actually is...this is precisely what I'm looking for. After the lyrical part of this song, to me anyways, this is just sick. From what I've been reading you're right tho, it sounds like the techstep/neurofunk is right up my alley. Another sub-genre I just stumbled across is a fusion of the djent metal style with dubstep and it turns into what's being called "djentstep". Man, I'm going to be so broke buying all this new music.....sweet.

Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of metal heads make the transition to EDM via DnB or Psytrance.

You might do well to find a song you like on youtube and then follow any playlists there

Good luck!

:D

And I've been doing what you just mentioned...been spending a shitload of time finding all sorts of new fusions of musical styles I like on Youtube. To bad it's taken me this long to come around...better late than never I suppose, right?
