I am going to rehab on the 14th. First to detox then rehab. I got no idea are they going to give me suboxone then I am going to WD anyway in rehab feeling like shit, or do they give you clonidine where I will feel like shit in detox but atleast I will be healing in rehab. I got no idea what to expect. My habit is big but not huge. WD is going to be no picnic. I am at about a gram a day on dope, 450mgs of oxy, or 110mgs of Methadone, whatever I can get a hold of that day.

Any first hand experiences? I am committed. I am done with this chapter. I just can not close it on my own.

I can't say for certain -- there are many more here who are more experienced with this than I am -- but I think that every detox/rehab is probably run a bit differently. All I can say is that detox is focused exclusively on getting you past the acute withdrawal, getting clean; rehab is about staying clean, where they will try to identify and treat the root cause of what caused the use in the first place, or at the very least give you some tools to help you stay sober.

Lots of luck to you, and do check in when you can to let us know how you're doing. :)

some treatment facilities provide methadone to their clients as part of a maintenance program (some will only provide methadone if you are already on it), some have a zero tolerance policy on all drugs.

The detox portion of your treatment will occur in the very beginning of your stay and you will be closely monitored (blood, heart rate, etc). In the beginning you will most likely receive some sort of medication to ease your withdrawal. The key word is 'ease'. Its still going to suck. Its still going to be very difficult and the medication isn't going to do much for the mental aspect of withdrawal. Its still something that you need to do if you truly want to kick. ya gotta go through that initial withdrawal. just know that when its over, you don't have to ever go through it again unless you choose to.

Dude told me once that you 'gotta go through it to get through it'. This is so very true. You are fortunate that you will be under the care of medical professionals.

It may get worse before it gets better but it will get better.

Please be well, man. <3

Thanks for the input. I know there is no easy out. I've gotten 4 months on my own once and it was still a path to normalcy to go and I relapsed. I can't take this life anymore though. Four years ago I had a brand new Mercedes Benz and a house and a lot of other material stuff, now I'm scraping dollars together for a couple bags of dope or a 30 roxi or what have you. It was fun in the beginning. It just isn't fun anymore.
