I recently received an email from a Chinese chemical lab who is offering a chemical that I can't seem to find anywhere else. They claim it is a replacement for mephedrone, but it's structure looks somewhat closer to methcathinone or maybe even methedrone to me (I'm no expert) and seems to be fairly different from the more common cathinones. The structure is 2-(ethylamino)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)propan-1-one and the CAS # is 1225845-30-6 according to the supplier, but I can't find any information on either the structure or that particular CAS #. Could someone with a some more chemistry knowledge give me an idea of what this molecule might possibly called and if there's any chance it might be worthwhile?

right?

from the name.. that's what i come up with in my head

the cas# doesn't exist though.. couldn't seem to find it on the CAS DB

I'm not interested in the stuff, and this is a well-known sketchy lab, I just find it odd that they'd be offering something like this with absolutely no information and then give a false CAS to go with it...shady shady.

LOL @ whoever came up with the idea to sell a 4-MeO and N-ethyl cathinone. 8(

edit-- the CAS# is legit, though. I just searched it on scifinder, no prob.

I know that because I am hearing about this from the vendor that it either is already on the RC market or soon will be. Perhaps is could be one of these strange cathinone compounds that were in the NRG mixes and such? I just heard of pentylone today, I believe it was called, which is a relative of MDPV that they found in soem batches of NRG-1 and NRG-3.

Well..............don't ask how I obtained this; but this what one of the more popular 'bath salt' brands (on the west coast; I've seen patients and even some hospital staff with these bags) does NOT contain, and is now legal in all US states (the original formulation contained MDPV, at a surprisingly high purity). The new formulation as pictured below likely contains some stimulant (probably NOT dimethocaine), so im curious as to what it actually DOES contain....

From what I understand, this 'vendor' was already prosecuted for MDPV related offenses, and is one of the many participants that lead to the emergency scheduling of these compounds by means of mass production/distribution/shameless profit seeking.....

I have nothing against greed (within boundaries; an oxymoron of sort), but the mass retailing of powerful psychoactives in "flashy" pre-packaged (with names like white rush, 8-ball, etc, etc) without stating the active compound(s), content, purity and batch #, is not simply an act of greed.........it is dare I say, immoral (I don't use that word often).

Even in light of the various RC-related issues I've encountered/witnessed from both the perspective of a former user/current 'dabbler' and as a physician, I have yet to encounter a compound that warrants scheduling or emergency 'control' legislation. While already well into my fellowship when this particular cathinone/MDPV/ "head-shop grade stimulant" issue reached its current hysteria, I have yet to personally witness or be directly informed of any cases in which suspected tox crisis involving the stimulants in question have resulted in anything more than the run-of-the-mill stimulant tox psychosis (it should noted I do not work in first emergency or psychiatric units). Sure, deaths from acute tox or bizarre actions precipitated by acute intox have been attributed to some of these compounds (in some cases, rightfully so), but the sum of these casualties would be likely surpassed by ethanol related casualties I've personally witnessed during those nasty holiday weekend emergency shifts.

My long drawn out point of all of this.......my cellphone battery is dying (or, death to mass RC vendors, etc)
